Henlopen Theatre Project Hires Managing Director |
Henlopen Theater Project (HTP) has announced that New York theatre veteran James FitzSimmons has been hired to be its managing director.
FitzSimmons, with more than a decade of professional stage and theatre management experience has worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in a variety of regional theaters as well as having experience with several non-profit organizations. His credits include work on the premiers of such productions as The Heidi Chronicles by Wendy Wasserstein, Sylvia by A.R. Gurney and the Stephen Sondheim musical Assassins, to name a few. In addition to his stage management and theatre administration talents, FitzSimmons is a director and playwright with a degree from New York University. He has worked and studied nationally and overseas, including time spent at the Royal Court Theater in London. And while Mr. FitzSimmons has a resume full of New York credits, he also has close ties to the Cape Region. He owns a house in Lewes, DE with his partner, whose family has had a home in the area for almost 70 years. As Managing Director, Mr. FitzSimmons will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Henlopen Theatre Project. He will work with HTP Artistic Director Lisa Pelikan to present a season of productions for the summer of 2000 and beyond. HTP is working hard to bring professional Equity theater to the Cape region.
