Here she comes... Miss Renegade 2000. Congratulations to Naja Dupree who was awarded this year's title at the Renegade Resort on Easter Sunday. First and second place alternates were Jade SinClair and the lovely Fantasia. The pageant provided an evening of fun and entertainment, including dynamic performances by Dominique Taylor and Leighanne Richards. FYI... Roxy Loveless decided to keep her pumps buried in Rehoboth sand, and canceled her plans to leave the area. Two great parties marked the opening of two extraordinary galleries that joined Rehoboth Beach's ever-growing cultural scene. Panache, owned by Ed Rose, Deborah Rose, and Sandra Robbins, debuted on Friday, April 21 with a reception at their Rehoboth Mews location. The contemporary gallery features the work of artists and crafts people from across the country in glass, fiber, metal, wood, clay and mixed media. Our Place Restaurant catered the affair serving a variety of specialties from their popular ethnic American menu. Acropolis, owned by Mike Lobb and Mark McFarland, held their grand opening on Saturday, April 29 at their 46 Baltimore Avenue location. The unique gallery features antiques, artifacts, and accessories from around the world. The party provided live entertainment by Nautical Sounds and was catered by Jill Barbon with an assortment of incredible hors d' oeuvres and desserts. Speaking of openings, the Double Dippers old fashioned ice cream parlor reopened for their second season. In addition to sundaes, banana splits, shakes, Belgian waffles topped with fruit & ice cream and other tasty treats, they are offering a large selection of Edy's fat free, sugar free, low fat ice cream and frozen yogurt. (Did you read that Steve? Now you can eat all the tempting desserts you please, without the fat... and still keep your cholestral level down.) On the town, Friday, May 5, Restaurant Espuma invites you to their grand opening party from 5-10pm, with complimentary menu tasting and live entertainment. No reservations are required. Plumb Loco will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with drink specials and giveaways all night starting at 5 pm. The Renegade presents Mark Peters, entertainer/comedian, who opened for acts such as Elaine Boosler, Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen Degeneres, before becoming a headliner himself. Mark is headquartered in San Francisco where he purchased 1 of the 3 original Wayland Flowers' Madame puppets. He took a year's leave of absence to study and learn Madame's character, mannerisms and voice and has been performing as a comedian, singer, impersonator, and Madame's alter ego all in the same show for the past 9 years. Don't miss his act Sunday, May 7 at 10 p.m. No Byscuyts, a talented group of local musicians, is captivating audiences of all ages with their incredible variety of sound and style. This eclectic group will perform Jazz, Blues, R&B, and special requests at your private party or function. For information on bookings call 302-645-1593 or email nobyscuyts@aol.com.
