Make A Difference Day This October 28th, many communities around the nation will participate in Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others. It is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its over 560 carrier newspapers. Last October, the SHARP Center at SCAC invited volunteers to gather and make red ribbons to be distributed during World AIDS Day on December 1, 1999. This year the SHARP Center would like to invite local businesses and community members to contribute by donating blankets, new electric space heaters, and pet supplies so that they may be dispersed to our clients in need this upcoming winter season. Pet supplies may seem like an odd request, but some clients on a fixed income will care for their pets before themselves, so we would like to provide them with these needed items to avoid having to make that decision. The Sussex County AIDS Committee is a not for profit organization serving residents in Sussex County affected by HIV/AIDS. SCAC is committed to working to ensure that people with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones secure all benefits in which they are entitled, providing services such as the food program, financial assistance, and transportation. SCAC also provides resources to educators and others affected by HIV/AIDS through its SHARP Center. The center houses over 400 book titles, pamphlets, magazines, free and anonymous testing and counseling, client advocacy and access to the Internet. The SHARP Center also facilitates monthly educational workshops for the public. If you or your business would like to make a contribution or assist with this year's Make a Difference Day, please contact Jeanne at 644-1094. Thanks for your support. Art at the Dream Caf The Dream Caf, 26 Baltimore Avenue in downtown Rehoboth, is currently hosting an exhibit of the watercolors of Mary Hatcher. She was awarded 3 First Premiums at the 1999 Delaware State Fair and won second place in the 1997 Sussex County Senior Exhibit. The paintings will be on display at the Dream Caf through September 26 Holiday Magic for Charities The Rehoboth Outlets have again ensured a season of holiday cheer for two local charities: The Children's Beach House and the Rehoboth Art League.
