LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
Speak Out |
History was made on March 27, when the Delaware House of Representatives passed HB-99, legislation designed to make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation in the area of housing, employment, public accommodations, insurance and public works contracting.
Now, this measure is before the Senate Small Business Committee and timing is everything. Our Senator, George Bunting, and Senator Harris McDowellboth of whom are co-sponsors of the legislationsupport passage of this bill out of committee and on to the full Senate for debate. However, Senator Robert Venables, chair, is opposed and Senator John Still is yet undecided. There is precious little time left to convince Senator Venables and Senator Still. Get involved NOW and help make a positive change in Delaware and in our future! Let us speak with one voiceall gays, lesbians and citizens who hope for a brighter future. Each must now join the fight for fairness in the first State. Call these Senators today. Tell them you support HB99 and ask for their support as well: Sen. Robert Venables 302-744-4298 Sen. Each of the 70 volunteers has been given the opportunity to name their favorite local charity and to enter it in the Charities of the Month drawing. Volunteer Jackie Ignacio was a winner in March and she selected CAMP Rehoboth to share in the profits. It is my distinct pleasure to present you with the enclosed check for $500. Barbara Rider, Secretary All Saints' Parish Thrift Shop Thank you for the great opportunity to attend the conference sponsored by The Women's Project of CAMP Rehoboth, held in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday, March 24. You did a great job. The conference was very informative as well as enjoyable. I was impressed with the knowledge and diversity of your group. Hoping to cross paths again. Marie DiFava Lebanon County, Pennsylvania Lesbians A Message from Sea Hi! We are aboard the ship after three wonderful days in Barcelona and one day in Majorca. What an incredible city Barcelona wasfabulous architecture, wonderful food and very friendly people. We've toured and toured...then we arrived at the shipFANTASTICgreat big cabin with a balcony. We completed the mandatory life boat drill (the four of us looked great in our life jackets!) and we know we can get out of here, if necessary, faster than Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb (or Leo DeCaprio and Kate Winslet, depending on your particular movie of reference). Majorca was wonderful, except it was rainy and cold, but we loved the tour and the town. Today we are at sea. Bonnie is getting a massage and facial and I'm dying my hair European purple (honest!) It's all the rage here. I'll let you know how it comes out. It's still overcast and yucky but there's plenty to do on the ship; an art auction this afternoon and a tour of the ship's navigation and pilot's bridge (Bonnie is enthused). With rain and wind, we should be in for quite a ride. Oh well, it can't be worse than Delaware Bay! Cheers from the crew, Fay and Bonnie Bob and Larry |
