ARTswings: Making the world a more interesting place, one swing at a time

ARTswings are not your average run-of-the-mill swings. They are by far the most exciting, colorful, imaginative swings you've ever seen. Each swing is crafted from 3/4" treated lumber and hand-painted by artists in a multitude of designs ranging from fanciful splendor to sophisticated fun.

There is a black faux fur gorilla-haired swing with a plastic banana suspended from a purple and white striped rope. There is a red and white striped swing with red and white striped rope that is reminiscent of the Cat in the Hat character by Dr. Seuss. There is a yellow and black striped swing with a 4" red and silver reflector and red and white striped rope that looks like it's moving even when it's standing still. There are also colorful animal print swings, polka-dot swings, and even swings that glow in the dark under a black light. Whichever design strikes your fancy, these are delightful objects of art that are guaranteed to bring a smile to every child's face. Each swing comes completely assembled with 14 feet of soft-to-the touch braided polyester rope, and all the necessary hardware for both indoor or outdoor installation.

ARTswings were originally designed to be used INSIDE your home, which may sound like a strange idea to those of us lucky enough to live in rural areas that have backyards with trees to hang a conventional swing from. There are generations of children, especially those living in urban areas, that do not have the luxury of a backyard, let alone one with a tree. So we decided to add a new twist to an old concept by adding the option of bringing outdoor fun inside. Indoor installation is as easy as drilling two holes in a ceiling or door frame and hand turning two eye screws. Once the eye screws are installed, the swings can be grabbed by the spring clasps on the pre-tied rope assembly and hooked onto the eye screws. The quick-release design of the hanging hardware allows the swings to be easily removed when not in use.

ARTswings is a charitable organization formed by multi-media artist Wendy Carr and multi-instrumentalist Andrea Jones of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. They make and sell hand-painted swings at fundraising events to raise money to buy materials to make more swings. For every swing sold, a duplicate swing is made and donated to a disadvantaged child during the holiday season. We can't necessarily change the world, but with your support we can at least make the world a more interesting place, one swing at a time.
