CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Founder's Circle Update |
by Andrea Andrus |
There's nothing like a magnificent party for a great cause! On May 31, 2003, in the Atlantic Sands Hotel's ballroom, with a spectacular ocean view, we'll host our third annual Founder's Circle event. It's the Founder's Circle Black and White Beach Ball with a different twist. To signify the heart of the community, we've added (And Red All Over) to throw in a splash of color and add to the theme of a very artsy and fun fundraising event. Taking place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be soothing melodies by Peggy Raley, a well-known and admired local performer. Adding lots more color and entertainment during the evening will be the HeART of the Community art auction. These works of art were created by very talented artists in our community who donated their time and energies to the project. Focused on a theme of "Summer Love", you will be able to bid on and, if you're lucky, be the owner of a work of art that will not only complement your home but will support the Founder's Circle capital campaign. It's a magical evening that demonstrates the strength and "heart" of our community. We have also added something else to entice you to attend this year's event. Prior to the Founder's Circle Black and White (And Red All Over) Beach Ball, there will be an opportunity to view the artists' paintings during a one-week preview at the CAMP Rehoboth office. On May 24, 2003, we will have an Artists' Reception in the same location. You will have an opportunity to meet these interesting artists and hear more about their stunning works of art. What better way to decide which painting(s) you're interested in so you can plan your strategy for purchasing fine art AND for helping us reach our $1,000,000 capital campaign goal! To date, we have received pledges in excess of $350,000 from our Founder's Circle members. Given everything that is happening in our world today, we have a unique challenge to not only raise the funds to build our community center but to also continue building a sense of support and inclusiveness in our community. We are hoping to accomplish this by communicating with you on our progress through this ongoing column and through mailings; being aware of the needs voiced by our community so that we are better able to determine the services that should be provided by the Community Center; and finding more ways to reach out to each and every one of you in our community. Helping us reach our $1,000,000 capital campaign goal requires teamwork and creativity. Through teamwork and creativity, community weaknesses can be turned into community strengths. Is it a tough time to reach such a goal? Sure it is! However, if everyone comes together to help us meet our goal, it will happen. So, we need each of you to think about how you can help. Become a Founder's Circle member today. You'll walk into the Founder's Circle annual event on May 31st knowing that you are an integral part of this community effort and have really made a difference. It is more important to have a dream than to have a way to achieve it. If the power of our passion is strong enough, we will figure out a way to make our dreams reality. Show your passion and become a Founder's Circle member by completing the pledge form with this article (that is available in PDF format HERE) and mail it to me at CAMP Rehoboth. If you're already a member, encourage a friend or family member to become a part of our dream or give a gift of membership to someone special to you. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Your pledge will make a difference!Andrea Andrus may be reached at 302-227-5620, or by e-mail at andrea@camprehoboth.com. |
