Tuscany - la terra bella at Coastal Gallery & Frameship |
(Tuscan Field, a watercolor by Rehoboth artist Dale Sheldon.) Rehoboth artist Dale Sheldon will exhibit her new series of watercolors, Tuscanyla terra bella at Coastal Frameshop and Gallery, 4284B Highway One (between CVS and Cingular) in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The exhibition opens with a reception to meet the artist on Saturday, September 6 from 3-6 p.m. and will continue through October 15. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from noon to 4 p.m. Sheldon, now a full time Rehoboth resident, traveled through Tuscany in August of 2002 while her new home and studio were being built in the Pines here in Rehoboth. This exhibition becomes a visual and painterly travelogue as Sheldon recalls "the shadowed silver olive orchards giving way to fields of sunflowers." Where "every village, every field carries the footprints of centuries of artists, poets, writers and philosophers." Exquisite and lyrical depictions dominate the show with Sheldon's unique palette and paint handling reinterpreting the Italian landscape. Tuscany becomes more familiar and shows its many moods in these workselegant and timeless/playful and mysterious. As they did last exhibition, gallery owners Don Gardiner and Lee Wayne Mills will donate a portion of all sales from the exhibition to a local charity. The CAMP Rehoboth Women's Project has been selected for this show. For more information, call Coastal Frameshop & Gallery at 302-227-8704. |
