LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth

CAMP Connect

by Beth Fitton
Connect

LOVE is quite an experience! I'm talking about the 4th of July weekend extravaganza that includes two nights of dancing at the transformed Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, a beach party, Sunday Brunch and so much more.

This is the first year that I was able to see the behind the scenes preparation for the weekend. It is quite phenomenal! First, there is the LOVE Committee that does the planning and early preparation. Next come the CAMP Rehoboth (weekly) volunteers who help with mailings, ticket sales and assembling goodie bags. While all of those projects are happening, Murray Archibald and another group of volunteers go to work on the Convention Center, creating the metamorphosis. Finally, there are the volunteers who staff the actual events, welcoming guests, taking tickets, processing credit cards, and keeping order.

Many of the volunteers who help with LOVE and other CAMP Rehoboth events take vacation days from their jobs to be part of the experience. Other volunteers are retirees who make CAMP Rehoboth a priority in their lives.

I used to wonder where all these great volunteers come from or why they were so committed to CAMP Rehoboth. Their stories certainly differ but there are two common themes that I hear. One is a belief that CAMP Rehoboth makes a difference in the community and in their own individual lives and the second is that by connecting with other volunteers and members of the community, they feel enriched.

Our hats are off to you, CAMP Rehoboth's finest, the volunteers and supporters!

Founders' Circle

In addition to those people who give their time and talent, CAMP Rehoboth has a very dedicated and growing group of donors. To date 411 members of the Founders' Circle have pledged $939,567.72 with $632,278.87 being received. (See page 104.)

CAMP Rehoboth's board and staff appreciate all of you who have become recent members of the Founders' Circle, upgraded your original pledge, or made your pledge payment. We recognize that many of you make a personal sacrifice in order to make your contribution. Thank you.

It's not too late for you to join the Founders' Circle. You will be making an investment in our community, plus it's a great tax deduction. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

I think you will agree. Whether you are able to support CAMP Rehoboth through volunteer time and talent or financial donation, you will feel better about your community and yourself for making the contribution.
