In Memory of Robert Gold |
Robert Gold died at home on March 7 at the age of 58, after a courageous seventeen year battle with brain cancer. He was with friends and family.
Services were held at Parsell's Funeral Home, Kings Highway, Lewes DE on Wednesday, March 9. Burial followed at Epworth Cemetery in Rehoboth Beach. Robert was born in New York City and grew up in White Plains, NY. He was a 1969 graduate of Syracuse University. He taught art and elementary education in New York City schools for 13 years. In 1983 he relocated to Potomac Maryland, where he worked as an interior designer for 13 years. In 1996 Mr. Gold moved to Rehoboth Beach. He worked for Framehouse Gallery and Peninsula Gallery in Lewes before opening the Coastal Frameshop and Gallery in Rehoboth. Ill health forced the sale of that gallery. Robert met his lifetime partner, Larry Hooker in 1975. Their 30-year commitment was officially recognized by their marriage in Vancouver B.C. in 2003. Robert was predeceased by his father Morris Gold and his nephew David Greenspan. In addition to his partner Larry, he is survived by his mother Doris Diamond of Palm Beach FL, his sister and her husband Heather and Michael Greenspan of Rockville MD, his niece and her husband Lisa and David Griffith, a great niece Kendall, a great nephew Matthew, his loving cousins, Larry's family, many devoted friends and his adored dog Mitzi.
