2005 Rehoboth Autumn Jazz |
Tickets on sale now for Autumn Jazz Festival
The 2005 Autumn Jazz weekend in Rehoboth and Dewey will have a Grammy-winning, Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame twist to it this year as the three top performers are award winning Hall of Famers. This year, the always successful, always sold-out weekend will feature five-time Grammy winner Al Jarreau, the historic studio band and 1992 Hall of Fame inductees Booker T. and the MGs, and the legendary Al Green, one of the great soul singers of the 70s who made it into the Hall of Fame in 1995. When temperatures and leaves start to fall, it will be time for the annual Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Fest. And coming up next month, Oct. 12-16 is the 16th anniversary of this homegrown event. One of the most anticipated weekends of the year (although now it stretches to five days) the 2005 program has even more big names, big bands, and great sounds. With its five-day schedule, the events will get going on Wednesday night Oct. 12, at Crabbers Cove in Dewey with a taste of Rehoboth's amazing cuisine. It's followed by Heads Up Super Band with a tribute to Ray Charles at the Bay Center. The official Autumn Jazz Fest Friday night line-up, at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center features Al Jarreau in a 9:30 p.m. concert. On Saturday, there will be a 1 p.m. concert at the Convention Center by that famous studio band Booker T. and the MGs, followed by a 9 p.m. Saturday concert by the legendary Al Green. Other events include The Original Funk Brothers and Jazz Attack plus an awesome gospel jazz brunch on Sunday at the Bay Center. Ticketed events throughout the festival sell out, so check out the website at www. RehobothJazz.com, call 800-29-MUSIC, or stop by the venues. Prices for the ticketed events range from $40-$110. While the official Autumn Jazz Fest line-up of ticketed events boasts a lot of famous names and fan favorites, almost every gourmet restaurant and eatery in town offers "all that jazz," too. There are local performers and regional imports all around town, with our local venues waiting to introduce you to some terrific new talent. Everywhere you go, all weekend long, you can find cool jazz, hot blues and a torch singer or two. With nationally known musicians, a diversity of restaurant and performance spaces, and music for every taste and budget, the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival is as diverse as Rehoboth Beach. The beach jazz tradition started in 1990 and has been growing ever since. Over the past fifteen years, the fest has drawn jazz greats such as Boney James, David Sanborn, Charlie Byrd, Patti Austin and more. According to Festival organizers, the Festival continues to grow more diversified each year, encompassing traditional and contemporary sounds as well as the heritage side of Jazz music. There's something for every taste, from smooth jazz to hot contemporary music. Jazz Fest in Rehoboth brings out the jazz lover in everyone in town for the weekend. Whether you love contemporary sounds, swing, gospel or smooth standards, you'll hear it all spilling out of restaurants and lounges all over town. It's all part of the diversity of what our small town of Rehoboth Beach has to offer. Tickets may be ordered by calling 1-800-29-MUSIC. Check www.rehobothjazz.com for specific times and prices. |
