Sundance Auction
The first night of Sundance is the Auction but it was not a part of the original Sundance. When Steve Elkins first suggested it, if fact (back in 1989), no one was very interested. Even so, a few items were donated for a silent auction, and that was how it began.
Over the years, the Auction night has become a vital part of the Sundance experience, and the funds raised from it have played a huge role in the success of the event over the years.
This year, Sundance Co-chair Natalie Moss expects the Auction to contain well over 500 items in both the silent and live auction. As in previous years, there will be a wide variety of items on which to bid—everything from t-shirts and jewelry to expensive artwork, antiques, trips, services and more.
The way it works is simple. The doors open at 7 p.m. with a open bar and a cocktail buffet by Nourish. Bidding in the silent auction starts immediately and lasts until 9 p.m., when it reaches a feverish pitch. The Live Auction starts at 9:10 p.m. when some of the most spectacular items go up for bid.
This year that list of “spectacular items” includes an outdoor kitchen (granite countertop, teak cabinets, grill, sink, and fridge) from Tuscan Construction; a 40” 3D TV from Overture; a hot tub from New Wave Spas, an Olivia Cruise, and a fully restored 1967 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.
Also, this year the Sundance Auction will feature Lorne Crawford, a professional auctioneer from Pennsylvania who loves being a part of the Rehoboth Community.
Going once…going twice…its going to be an exciting night. Don’t miss it!
