Lesbian Authors at Proud Bookstore
There will be a meet-the-author event and reading at Proud Bookstore in Rehoboth on Sunday morning July 4th at 10 a.m.—including recent Lambda Literary Award winner Colette Moody.
Colette Moody, author of The Sublime and Spirited Voyage of Original Sin, will be on hand to read from her award-winning novel. The book is an incredibly funny, sexy, pirate tale (really!) about swashbuckling women in love! Her second book The Seduction of Moxie is also a hilarious, sexy tale of romance during the Prohibition era. What fun!
Moody gave a hilarious acceptance speech in New York recently at the Lambda Literary Awards and she will be on hand in Rehoboth to tell us all about her writing and experiences.
Also on hand will be Bold Strokes Books author KI Thompson, author of House of Clouds—a sweeping historical novel of the Civil War era that was a finalist for an Independent Book Publishers Award for Historical Fiction. House of Clouds is a sweeping saga of an impassioned lesbian romance set amidst the upheaval of a nation under siege. Bold Strokes Books (run by author/publisher Radclyffe) has also published Thompson’s Heart of the Matter, a contemporary romance and sexy, smart novel that traces the path of two women on their journey of self-discovery.
Author and local resident Stefani Deoul, will be reading from her novel The Carousel, which has been getting raves in publications like Lambda Book Report. Author and film maker Shamim Sharif, who wrote and filmed the classic I Can’t Think Straight says “The Carousel has everything I look for in a great novel— beautifully drawn characters that you really care about, a story you want to follow, love, redemption and a sense of mystery at its heart. Stefani Deoul has done a fabulous job in painting the richness of a small town brought together by loss, life and love. I can’t recommend it enough. ”Just About Write’s Anna Furtado called it “one of those stories that lingers long after the last page is turned—a story of redemption and a journey to wholeness—and one not to be missed.”
Rounding out the quartet will be Letters writer and author Fay Jacobs, reading from her forthcoming third essay collection, For Frying Out Loud—More Tales from Rehoboth Beach.
Proud Bookstore will be serving coffee and breakfast goodies at this morning reception—where the readings are set to be as explosive as any July 4th fireworks! For more information, check out www.aandmbooks.com.
