As introduced in the last issue, our Volunteer Spotlight was established to recognize some of the special volunteers who’ve helped CAMP Rehoboth reach its 20th anniversary this year.
We encourage you to check out the Spotlight in each issue and get to know some of the wonderful, behind-the-scenes heroes that we’re so fortunate to have in our CAMP family.
The Spotlight will be an on-going column in Letters and will feature recipients who have been selected by the volunteers themselves and you, our readers.
If you know someone whose efforts are worthy of consideration, please make a nomination. We’ll be maintaining an ongoing database that’ll be used to help determine future recipients. Email us at info@camprehoboth.com.
And because there’s always something to do, come join us. We always need new volunteers and would love to hear from you. We promise you won’t regret it.
Natalie Moss: A Real CAMP Treasure(r)!
Background info: Natalie and her partner, Evelyn Maurmeyer, live on London Circle South in the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club. A CPA by trade and a Virgo by birth, Natalie and Evelyn share their home with their two dogs, Lucilu and Ginger.
How long have you been Volunteering for CAMP and what or who prompted you to get involved?
CAMP published a “Wish List” in 1992 for a Bookkeeper and I signed up. I was elected to the Board and became Treasurer soon after and have been ever since.
What have you enjoyed most about your Volunteer experience?
I love the people, but most of all love the good we bring to the community. Whether they know it or not, for gay people who retire here and come here in the summer, it is CAMP that has made Rehoboth the accepting community that it is.
Best memory helping CAMP?
There are so many! One of my favorites is the New Year’s Eve Starburst Gala. It brings women from all over to a safe environment. I love to hear the comments from women who wouldn’t otherwise be able to enjoy an evening with women dancing and being themselves.
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do?
As funny as this may sound, I’d probably go to the beach.
If you could spend a full day with one person, who would it be? Why?
My girlfriend, of course, because we always have fun together. But I wouldn’t turn down a day with Ellen. That would be a hoot.
“Wouldn’t you like to be a CAMPer too?” How would you help encourage someone to get involved with CAMP Rehoboth?
CAMP does so much that people don’t know about. I would want everyone to be spokespersons and spread the word about the work CAMP does and how they should become a member at the highest level they can.
SHHHH! Please provide a little known fact about you…until now, that is (something unrelated to CAMP Rehoboth!)
I love Italian cold cut subs with hot peppers and barbecue chips.
One favorite thing about Rehoboth…
In a word, community. I really feel at home and equal here.
If you have any, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
The beach! Plus I’d love to go on an Alaska and Hawaiian cruise.
Thank you, Natalie! We are indebted to your long-standing dedication and commitment to the challenging position as Treasurer.
