You can feel the energy in the air as folks try to grab all the summer they can. Whether you’re here for a visit, you have a weekend home, or you live here all year, it’s high time to enjoy the rest of the season. PERFORMING ARTS
Clear Space Theatre Company (20 Baltimore Avenue at the Celebration Mall; 302-227-2270; Sussex County’s only year-round professional troupe continues their Summer Repertory Season with three fabulous shows playing in rotation, Tuesday through Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. Two all-singing, all-dancing extravaganzas with Words and Music: By Gershwin, and 100 Years Of Broadway through September 4, and catch the merry murderesses of Chicago before the show closes on August 21. Register now for their Fall semester with classes for all ages—Broadway Babies for pre-schoolers, Broadway Bound for grades 1-8, Adult Acting and Dance, and Broadway Legends for the 50+ crowd. Possum Point Players (441 Old Laurel Road in Georgetown; 302-856-4560) has their annual Yard Sale, August 20 from 7 a.m. to noon, rain or shine! Find some great bargains and support community theatre. Brush Up Your Broadway—a musical fundraiser staged by John Hulse with Gail Kelso at the keyboard—August 26-28. $20, plus a silent auction and raffle.

*AerieArt Gallery (45½ Lake Avenue; 302-227-5376/302-584-6402) opens a solo show of the original paintings of Daniel Coston on August 13 (6-9 p.m.) in conjunction with the Mosaic Second Saturday Art Walk. Always on display are paintings from the 19th Century to the present.
Artworx19971 (20 Baltimore Avenue at The Celebration Mall; 302-727-1517) features quality, original art by Rehoboth Beach area artists at affordable prices. The collective is owned, operated and staffed by eight local artists. Stop by the studios and visit with an artist and view the constantly changing displays or works in progress.
Back Porch Café (59 Rehoboth Avenue; 302-227-3674) displays the watercolor art of Rodney Cook with Sunny Side Up—August 18-September 22 with an opening reception Sunday, August 21 from 4-6 p.m..
Coffee Mill (127b Rehoboth Mews; 302-227-7530) displaying Melcks Photography—original Photographs of Rehoboth Beach, July Fourth, and scenes of surrounding areas.
*Gallery 50 (50-A Wilmington Avenue; 302-227-2050) hosts the Third Annual Silent Auction and Benefit for AIDS Delaware on September 13. Paintings, mixed media, photographs and jewelry, and a raffle for a $1000 gift certificate which can be used at Gallery 50 or G-50 Fine Art Photography. Tickets: $10 or three for $25 at either gallery. New Works by Michael Fitts—iconic American images painted on scrap metal in tromp d’oeil fashion—through Sept. 8.

*Kevin Fleming and Friends (239 Rehoboth Avenue) is a new gallery featuring National Geographic photographer, and local resident, Kevin Fleming’s photographs, books and calendars, as well as art and photography from Deb Applebee, Tony Pratt, and Pam Bieler.
