Civil Unions Celebrated at Food Bank Bash in Milton
Country music star Aaron Tippin will be in Milton for a live acoustic concert on Saturday, June 11, as part of the Eighth Annual Summer Bash. Proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Delaware’s hunger-relief efforts in the First State.
For $35 guests will enjoy an afternoon of live music from Tippin, fine cuisine from The Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware, and Dogfish Head Beer on tap or non-alcoholic beverages. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable goods for the Food Bank. The attendee who brings the largest amount of nonperishable goods by weight will be ushered to prime front-row seating.
This year, in addition to the usual festivities, we will be recognizing and celebrating the passage of Delaware’s new Civil Unions law!
“We welcome Aaron Tippin to Delaware,” said Governor Jack Markell, the event’s honorary chair. “His music often focuses on our human struggles, which ties directly into the mission of this Food Bank of Delaware fundraiser.
Beyond the music and the good cause, this is a chance to talk to neighbors, share good conversation, good food and hopefully, good weather.”
Said Aaron Tippin, “I always enjoy performing at concerts, but when a concert also does good work like this one, how can that be beat? I’ve heard good things about the Annual Summer Bash and I’m looking forward to spending June 11 in Milton, Delaware!”
“We’re looking forward to another fun Saturday in Milton,” said Food Bank of Delaware president and CEO, Patricia Beebe. “The Annual Summer Bash is always a great time to meet new friends, create awareness of hunger in Delaware, and most importantly, raise much-needed food and funds for struggling Delawareans.”
Tippin has released 35 singles, of which 33 have charted on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. Three have become number one hits, including “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio,” “That’s as Close as I’ll Get to Loving You” and “Kiss This.” Four singles have crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100. Of Tippin’s studio albums, his 1992 Read Between the Lines album was certified platinum. Five other studio albums were certified gold.
The event will take place, rain or shine, at 313 Walnut Street in Milton. Gates open at noon, with the live performance beginning at 1:00 p.m. Information and Tickets
