Summertime…summertime…sum sum summertime! Okay, okay, I might be a little premature but with these 80 degree days...a girl gets confused!
I mentioned several new restaurants coming to Wilmington Avenue and I have another one—Cypress, featuring New Orleans style cuisine, will be coming to the space formerly known as Shag. All of the new Wilmington Avenue eateries—Cosmopolitan, The Tuscan Grill, and Mallory Square Fish House plan to open prior to Memorial Day.
Continuing our wining and dining update…Saladworks is coming to the Shoppes of Camelot; Broadkill Boathouse is now open in Milton (right on the water!); Matt’s Fish Camp is now open, just south of the Indian River Bridge, and Cake Bar is now open in Lewes. Port just opened in Dewey with Thai and New Orleans-style cuisine. No final word on Panera yet...you’ll know as soon as I do!
K&H Bagels is now open on Coastal Highway behind La Tonalteca. In that same shopping center will be Sunny Day Organics opening early May. According to the sign on Sunny Day, they will offer hydroponics and aquaponics. Wasn’t sure what that meant so I looked it up on Wikipedia and am still baffled! (But I was blonde once.)
Del Sol has moved to a new location on Rehoboth Avenue next to Dos Locos. Our Wild Delaware man, Kevin Fleming, is opening a store/studio in the one story brick building near FINS on Rehoboth Avenue.
Dueling fries? Bricker’s Famous French Fries from my girl’s hometown of York, PA has come to the beach and will open next door to the Ice Cream Store. Interesting how they are right across the street from Thrasher’s.
Speaking of competition, Midway Fitness is now open 24/7 —I’m assuming in response to 24/7 Club Fitness in the Rehoboth Mall. Midway does have the area’s only indoor racquetball court which yours truly has enjoyed on more than one occasion! Dear reader, you do know that you can join almost any gym in the area for a day, a week, a month or almost any block of time? That’s the advantage of a resort town.
Jolly Trolley is celebrating its 41st season and has added airport/bus/train station and local car service.
Don’t forget! If you haven’t visited the Delaware beaches yet this year, know that Delaware has banned text messaging and the use of handheld cell phones while driving. And if you are stopped for any reason, you will be asked for your driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. Be careful out there!
