Dog Days!
Yup! We’re in the Dog Days of summer. Those wonderful days when we just want to lay around unless we can drag ourselves to eat a bit. Time to get off your tail and enjoy the culture our area has to offer. All locations are Rehoboth Beach, unless otherwise noted.
PERFORMING ARTS
CAMP Rehoboth Chorus (37 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-5620) starts rehearsals Monday, August 13 at the Universal Unitarian Church on Marsh Road in Lewes. The chorus prides itself on being a voice of diversity and inclusiveness in the community and is open to anyone who loves to sing. It is also committed to providing high quality musical entertainment for audiences throughout the community. I’m directing the chorus this season, and think you should join!
Clear Space Theatre Company (20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-2270) the regions only professional theatre company, offers Annie, Broadway at the Beach, and Cabaret playing in rotation Tuesday-Sunday at 7:30 p.m. through September 2. Tickets are available online or at the box office. Registration for fall classes from first grade through your dotage are available online as well.

*AerieArt Gallery (45½ Lake Avenue; 302-227-5376 / 302-584-6402) invites you to view their selection of new works by Salisbury University art professors Jinchul Kim, Paul Flexner, Jim Hill and Brooke Rogers—all will be present to introduce their recent work on August 11 (6-9 p.m.); recent acquisitions of investment quality original fine paintings, many from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, plus a summer sale of excess stock of fine prints for $95 each. *Amandeline Gallery (1 North First Street; 302-226-0330) presents new works by nationally and internationally acclaimed artist Anne Packard as well as Sergey Cherep, original Romanian glass, canvas floor cloths, unique ceramics, and Rosanna tableware. Featuring original oil paintings on board by award-winning artist Elaine Hahn and new original acrylics by Amanda Ponko, and canvas works by classic realist Marc Whitney.

Back Porch Café (59 Rehoboth Avenue; 302-227-3674) presents High Color/ Rough Surf a new show of beach patterns and water boys by local artist Rodney Cook from August 16-September 20 with an opening reception Sunday, August 19 (4-6 p.m.).

*Gallery 50; G-50 Fine Art Photography (50 A-B Wilmington Avenue; 302-227-2050 Signs and Symbols—new abstract works by Arizona-based artist Rose Minetti— through August 10. Visions of the First State with each of the gallery’s artists presenting works inspired by Delaware and the Rehoboth Beach area in their own media. August 11 Gallery 50 hosts the 4th AIDS Delaware show—a one-night-only auction of small works— to support agencies and collective efforts throughout the state. A View Through—an exhibition by Lee Wayne Mills (I love his work!) begins Sunday, August 12-through September 6. The Happyrock Pottery (20 Baltimore Avenue at the Celebration Mall; 410-375-7120) features the work of potter Susan Gladstone who has 100 bottles on the wall. Let’s see how many are left in the fall.

Midge Smith Fine Art Gallery (135 Second Street, second floor, in Lewes; 302-245-4528) Art for a Purpose assists tax-exempt organizations by turning donated art into cash for their use. Gallery hours are Friday-Sunday (2-6 p.m.).
Packard Reath Gallery (Located in The Hotel Rodney, 142 Second Street; Lewes; 302-644-7513) Specializing in fine art photography. City Lights—an exhibition of works by Jason Langer.

Newly arrived are one-of-a-kind artist-created charm bracelets to knock your socks off.
Peninsula Gallery (520 E. Savannah Rd in Lewes; 302-645-0551) welcomes Roger Dellar of Surrey, England in a one-man show entitled Return of the British Impressionist. Through August 28.
*Philip Morton Gallery (47 Baltimore Avenue; 302-727-0905) features the work of renowned master colorist, Al Lachman, known for his luminous colors and expressive paintings of architecture and landscapes; through Labor Day. Opening night reception to meet the artist is Saturday, August 18 (6-9 p.m.). Twenty-two photographs by Bruce A. Clayton are on display at Symmetry Designs, 403 Rehoboth Avenue. Proud Bookstore (Baltimore Avenue in Village By the Sea; 302-227-6969) featuring the artwork of Geri Dibiase, Jeffrey Todd Moore, David Kraft, Lynn Finaldi, Michael Gardner, Patrick Keating, and John Gress, as well as books and cards.
Rehoboth Art League (12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres; 302-227-8408) hosts their 74th Annual Members Fine Art Exhibit in the Corkran and Tubbs Galleries. Members’ Showcase: Print Makers through August 26. Rehoboth Art League Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show August 11-12, and 18-19. Over 100 talented artists and artisans will participate featuring painting, photography, jewelry, wood work, ceramics, steel, glass works and some of the areas favorite musicians!
Rehoboth Beach Film Society (107 Truitt Avenue, 302-645-9095) seeks Film Critics to screen submissions for this year’s Festival.
