Even though the calendar says summer doesn’t end until Sept. 21, it is the end of the season. Time to start looking ahead to fall activities, and there are plenty of events to keep us all busy! Locations are Rehoboth Beach, unless otherwise noted.
PERFORMING ARTS
Clear Space Theatre Company (20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-2270; the regions only professional theatre company, offers Annie, Broadway at the Beach, and Cabaret playing in rotation Tuesday-Sunday at 7:30 p.m. through September 2. Tickets are available online or at the box office. Registration for fall classes from first grade through your dotage are available online. Opening September 21: Shirley Valentine starring Elaine Faye.
Possum Point Players (441 Old Laurel Road in Georgetown; 302-856-4560; presents the jazz musical City of Angels—score by Cy Coleman, lyrics by David Zippel, and a book by Larry Gelbart of M*A*S*H fame. September 28-October 7. Tickets: $23; $22 Seniors/ Students.
COMMUNITY NOTES
Art for the Cause, a fundraiser for ALS, is a three-day event beginning on Friday, September 7 (5-8 p.m.) at CAMP Rehoboth. “Food & Wine Tasting” hosted by Bernie Knollinger of Abbott’s Grill, and a “Dessert Tasting” hosted by Dru Tevis of Shorebreak Lodge (suggested donation: $15), and a $1,000 gift basket will be raffled off.
Art-a-paloozzzA: Saturday, September 8 at The Breakers Hotel (105 Second Street) from 4-9 p.m. with over 60 pieces of art donated by local artists in varied mediums. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association.
CAMP Rehoboth Chorus (37 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-5620) prides itself on being a voice of diversity and inclusiveness in the community and is open to anyone who loves to sing. It is also committed to providing high quality musical entertainment for audiences throughout the community. I’m directing the chorus this season, and think you should join!
Community Concert Band organizing in Rehoboth/Lewes area, all band instrumentalists welcome, all levels, all ages, no auditions.
Southern Delaware Choral Society (PO Box 444; 302-645-2013; begins rehearsals for their winter concert, A Holiday Voyage, Tuesday, September 4 at 7 p.m. in Tunnell Hall at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church. No audition required.
