Sundance Benefit Celebrates Silver Anniversary–Labor Day Weekend in RB
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the popular CAMP Rehoboth Sundance, a two-night event that is held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Labor Day weekend. The event kicks off Saturday, September 1, at 7 p.m. with an amazing live and silent auction, which attracts nearly 1,000 participants to bid on over 500 donated items, and concludes the following night with the Sundance, a dance party like no other. Tickets are just $45 for one night or $80 for both nights.
The Sundance Auction and cocktail buffet features an open bar all night, music, a lavish hors d'oeuvres spread, and a breathtaking array of silent auction items, including gift baskets, dining certificates, furniture, clothing, jewelry, retail shopping coupons, home décor, spa services, and other treats. The live auction features exciting travel opportunities, fine art, unique experiences, and other premium items with auctioneer Lorne Crawford of Crawford Auction Company.
“Sundance is always our largest and most popular event of the year,” says Murray Archibald, CAMP Rehoboth Board President, “but this being our 25th anniversary year, we plan to pull out all the stops. We are inviting anyone who has ever been to any previous Sundance events and those who have never attended a single one to all come help us celebrate, have a great time, and support a good cause.”
This year’s auction will feature a Celebrity Cruises Solstice Class cruise for two, with the winning bidder getting to choose from among thirty 10-14-day Mediter-ranean itineraries. The cruise package includes a stateroom for two with private veranda, port charges, and taxes, along with a $1000 credit towards air flights, transfers to and from ship, shore excursions, or shipboard credit. The cruise is being provided by, and arranged through, Accent On Travel of Towson, Maryland. The winning bidder will have a choice of dates between April and September, 2013 (all details are available upon request from CAMP Rehoboth). The live auction will also include seven days in Punta Cana as part of Olivia’s 40th anniversary celebration; a painting by Ward Ellinger; a Key West getaway package, and much more.
The second night of Sundance, September 2, is the high-energy dance party the event is named for. Mark Thomas hand picks contemporary progressive dance tunes with a few classic sounds here and there. “I start out slow early in the evening,” Thomas says, “and then build the energy in the room up later on.” The Sundance fun starts at 8 p.m, with dancing until 2 a.m., and an open bar all night. Hundreds of partiers crowd the floor in an atmosphere unmatched by regular dance clubs. Paul Turner turns up the heat with his amazing lights and special effects.
All funds raised will benefit CAMP Rehoboth, a nonprofit organization that operates a full-service community center; offers a variety of activities, cultural events, service projects, and educational programs; and advocates for a community of inclusion in Rehoboth Beach.
Tickets can be purchased online at camprehoboth.com or at the CAMP Rehoboth office, 37 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. Cash, check, American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted. Space is limited, so advance purchase is strongly recommended. For more information call 302-227-5620, visit the Sundance beach tent, or read more about Sundance on our website.
