June 27, 2014 - Sundance 2014 by Nancy Sakaduski

New Sponsor Levels for Sundance 2014

Area individuals, businesses, and organizations have an opportunity to support one of the most widely anticipated and publicized events in the area, Sundance, which benefits CAMP Rehoboth. The two-day Labor Day weekend Sundance event raises much-needed funds for CAMP Rehoboth, which operates a full-service community center; offers a variety of activities, cultural events, service projects, and educational programs; and advocates for a community of inclusion in Rehoboth Beach. Sponsorship levels start as low as $100, giving individuals an affordable way to show their support. A variety of options are available to businesses and higher level supporters. This year, a $5000 and above Diamond Sponsor level has been added. Sponsors gain tremendous visibility and recognition for their support.

Sundance 2014: Rainbow XXVII - The Love Dream - Return to Xanadu will be held August 30-31 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. Sundance attracts nearly 1,000 participants and is heavily promoted during the height of the tourist season. Sponsors’ names appear in our publication, Letters from CAMP Rehoboth, and are listed on the CAMP Rehoboth website. Posters listing the names of every sponsor are distributed to stores and businesses and are displayed throughout the area during the busy summer season. Support levels range from $100 to $5,000; each level brings an escalating assortment of benefits.

The Sundance event began in 1988, inspired by the need to do something in response to the growing AIDS epidemic and the terrible devastation it was causing. Funds raised by the benefit went toward education and health services in the Rehoboth community. In the 27 years since the first Sundance, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, first for AIDS and later for the wellness of the entire community.

Sundance 2014 offers individuals, businesses, and organizations the opportunity to show their support for CAMP Rehoboth while gaining substantial visibility among Rehoboth residents and visitors. Sponsors at all levels receive a listing on the invitation poster (more than 3,000 are distributed and it is displayed in more than 100 establishments). At the $100 Host level, additional benefits include one ticket to both nights of the event ($80 value), and a Sundance 2014 T-shirt. At the $500 or more Supporter level, additional benefits include two tickets and T-shirts, listing on the website and on recognition boards at the event, and access to the VIP lounge during the dance. Sponsors donating $1,000 or more receive four tickets and T-shirts, additional recognition in print and web materials (including advertising in the Washington Blade and the Cape Gazette), and access to the VIP lounge during the dance. Sponsors who donate $5,000 or more will receive even greater recognition and visibility.

Sponsors that prefer to support CAMP Rehoboth on an annual basis instead of supporting individual events have the option to participate in the CAMP Rehoboth Annual Sponsor or Premium Annual Sponsor program, which includes high-level Gold or Diamond Sundance Sponsorships, as well as logo placement on all other CAMP Rehoboth events, an ad on the CAMP website, and even full-page ads (Premium level only) in Letters from CAMP Rehoboth. Details for these “one-stop-shopping” sponsorship opportunities are available on request.

Sundance 2014 will be held over two nights: Saturday, August 30, 7-10 p.m. is the auction and cocktail buffet, which features an open bar, lavish hors d’oeuvre spread, and silent and live auctions. The silent auction includes hundreds of offerings, including vacation packages, dining opportunities, pieces of fine art, gift items, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Sunday, August 31, is a party beginning at 8 p.m. with dancing until 2 a.m. Participants can attend either or both nights of the event (tickets are $45 for one night, $80 for both).

“It’s the event of the year,” says CAMP Rehoboth Board President Murray Archibald. “We count on organizations and individuals to show their support and help us raise the critical funds needed to support our community programs and services.”

All proceeds from the event benefit CAMP Rehoboth (a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation) and support the activities and programs it provides to the Rehoboth community.
