World AIDS Day in Rehoboth Beach
CAMP Rehoboth will once again take the lead in the local observance of World AIDS Day with a Candlelight Walk, Service of Remembrance and Hope, and other activities on December 1. World AIDS Day is celebrated around the world and provides an opportunity to raise awareness and commemorate those who have died.
While the global theme of World AIDS Day continues to be “Getting to Zero,” (referring to the goal of reducing the incidence of the disease to zero), here in Rehoboth the theme will take on a more personal tone. The service will include readings and will feature music by members of the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus under the direction of Doug Yetter.
The activities in Rehoboth begin at 6:15 p.m. on December 1 with a pre-walk gathering and candle lighting at the Rehoboth Beach bandstand. At 6:30, the Candlelight Walk begins. At 7 p.m. a Service of Remembrance and Hope—including a reading of the names—will begin at All Saints’ Church, followed by a light supper at 7:45. To have the name of a family member or friend who has died from AIDS added to the list of names to be read at the service, call CAMP Rehoboth at 302-227-5620.
Supporting organizations are: All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Epworth United Methodist Church, Cape Gazette, AIDS Delaware, MCC Rehoboth, and the Delaware HIV Consortium.
