Drag Volleyball Battle of the Summer! Superheroes vs. Women of Horror
A bona fide Rehoboth tradition, the annual Labor Day weekend Drag Volleyball tournament teams would have made Marvel Comics proud. With a 15 to 9 score, the Superheroes used their special super powers to defeat the terrifying Women of Horror. The Drag Volleyball teams have been delighting crowds on Poodle Beach for the last 26 years, and have been featured on the Today Show.
Straight Eights Car Club Returns to RB
On Saturday, September 20, the Straight Eights Lambda Car Club returns to Rehoboth Beach. This year’s Car Show takes place in the beach block of Baltimore Avenue from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Team Rehoboth Scores Medals at Summer 2014 Gay Games
The 2014 Gay Games took place August 9-16 in Cleveland and Akron Ohio. Opening ceremonies included Lance Bass, Greg Louganis, Alex Newell of Glee, and a video of President Obama welcoming the athletes and spectators to the Games.
The following were medal winners: Casey Cornwell and Troy Roberts (Gold Men's Doubles Bowling), Casey Cornwell (Silver Men's Single Bowling), Casey Cornwell, Troy Roberts, Jim Nolan, Bobby Jones (Bronze Men's Team Bowling).
After the games, Bill McManus—Team Rehoboth’s Delegate to the Federation—was appointed Vice President of Membership to the Federation of Gay Games Board of Directors for a one year term.
Del Shores at Proud Books
Sordid Lives playwright Del Shores visited Rehoboth for the closing weekend of his hilarious and moving play at Clear Space Theater. That same weekend Bill Rouchell and Jacques LeClaire joined Del for a book signing at Proud Books on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth.
New CAMP Cancer Group
The Cancer Conversation is a new CAMP Rehoboth self-help support group, providing a caring environment for women whose lives have been touched by cancer. The group will meet Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. at CAMP Rehoboth. To register, call 302-644-6844.
Sundance Land and Sea Racing Festival
Though rough seas did away with the Sea portion of this year’s Sundance Land and Sea, the 5k Run and Walk were a big success. Produced for CAMP Rehoboth by Seashore Striders, the event brings out and eclectic mix of athletes and CAMP supporters.
As Season Ends, Letters Heads to P’town for a Late Summer Fling

September Weddings Popular in Rehoboth
If trends started last year continue, as they seem to be doing so far, the post-summer season will again be a popular time for gay weddings in the Rehoboth Beach area. From top left: Emilie Paternoster and Monica Parr were married earlier this year. Chad Nall and Brian Lopez-Rosa were married at Rehoboth Guest House (and celebrated at CAMP Rehoboth). Matthew Trone and Nicholas Piper were married on the beach. Rick Kirchoff and Steven Young were married at their home in Rehoboth Beach. Both Donna Rucks and Libbie Shelton from Lutz, Florida, and Abigail Knox and Victoria Newman of Norfolk, Virginia were married at The Brick in Georgetown, Delaware.
