ESWA Presents Half-Day Poetry Workshop
Third in spring workshop series set for April 25 in Delaware
The Eastern Shore Writer’s Association presents a poetry workshop from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 25 at the Bridgeville Library in Delaware.
The workshop is the third of ESWA’s spring series, with instructor Anne Colwell, a poet and fiction writer and associate professor of English at the University of Delaware. Colwell will discuss techniques like using images when writing poetry, and using surprising language to engage readers.
The workshop also will focus on moving beyond expected imagery into specific and vivid descriptions that connect readers and writers in the realm of the physical. Also included are examples of techniques and hands-on practice in their own writing. Budding and veteran poets should enjoy the workshop.
Colwell’s work has appeared in several journals. She has received an Established Artist Award in Poetry from the Delaware State Arts Council.
The workshop is open to the public. Cost is $30 for ESWA members and $40 non-member.
