April 3, 2015 - Women's FEST Authors

CAMP Rehoboth Women's FEST 2015

June Magee, RN – Festival Nurse and More at FEST 2015!

Spoofy novel June Magee, RN—Festival Nurse – about Rehoboth and Women’s FEST to be launched April 10 in town; a parade of authors will be in town for readings!

Tangled Roots by Marianne K. Martin Geri Dibiase Colors of the Sun

Each year, the literary component of the CAMP Rehoboth Women’s FEST gets stronger and stronger. For 2015, it’s going to be a whopper, including a hilarious book launch party and signing and appearances by several Lambda Literary award winners and nominees. And the festivities take place at Browseabout Books, Proud Bookstore, and the Rehoboth Convention Center April 10-11.

Bywater Books novelists Ann McMan and Salem West will be in town to launch their hilarious new book June Magee, RN – Festival Nurse—a send-up of Cherry Ames, Nancy Drew, and their ilk, with a mystery tale that takes place at Women’s FEST.

This laugh-out-loud book has sly humor, a tricky mystery and local references and celebrities. The official book launch takes place on Friday, April 10 at 10 a.m. with signings at Proud Books and with a party at Mixx on Friday evening, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome so stop in! The authors will be on hand to talk about the book on Saturday at a special Women’s FEST workshop.

In addition, the publishers from Bywater Books will all be in town to celebrate author Marianne K. Martin, who will be reading from and signing her new novel, Tangled Roots. It is currently a finalist in the prestigious Lambda Literary Award Contest to be awarded in June.

And, as they say on TV, “That’s not all!” Author Lynn Ames will be in town with her newest books, All That Lies Within and Bright Lights of Summer, the latter a tale of professional women’s softball and its heroes during World War II. Author Ames will also be at Proud Books on Friday morning April 10 and reading and signing at the FEST workshops.

But there’s more! Author and surgeon Ilene Wong, author of the book None of the Above, about an Intersex teenager will be reading and signing at Browseabout Books along with representatives from our local PFLAG Chapter on Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m. A surgeon by day and avenging Young Adult author by night, Ilene has written a fascinating book and she will be at Women’s FEST to read and sign just days after it is officially released!

And as if this fantastic news isn’t enough, a slew of writers from the Golden Crown Literary Society will also be at Proud Books on April 10 from noon until 5 p.m. and on hand at the EXPO on Saturday the 11th at the Convention Center. Those authors include Renee Bess, Rhavensfyre, Denise Judge, Luz Bradbury, Heather Jane, Jeanine Hoffman and DeJay.

As in past years, hometown author Fay Jacobs will be at Proud Books on Friday, reading and signing on Saturday, and at the EXPO. The Saturday EXPO is open to the public at the Convention Center from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free.

Come meet the authors, buy the books, get them personally autographed and expand your horizons. It’s going to be fun!
