Keith William Neale
Keith William Neale, 57, died at his home in Fort Lauderdale, FL on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
Keith was truly one of life’s joys. His infectious laugh, his quick acerbic wit, the mischievous twinkle in his eye won over family, friends and strangers alike. He was often the first at the party, lighting up a room with his big smile, and always the last out the door. He was generous and kind, often placing a higher priority on the needs of others by giving an encouraging word, a special gift, and frequently giant (and sweaty) hugs. He loved unconditionally. Angelic and devilish, he was a true friend to many people and will be greatly missed.
He was born in Washington, DC and raised in Morningside, MD. As an adult, he lived in Washington, DC working as a program analyst for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. After retiring in 2000, he moved to Rehoboth Beach, DE where he enjoyed a second career as project manager for an interior design firm until 2011 when he moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. He did volunteer work in Rehoboth Beach for many years, particularly the annual Sundance fundraiser for CAMP Rehoboth.
He is survived by his husband and partner of 32 years, Arthur Dochterman, three brothers and their wives Bruce (Patricia), Wayne (Sherrill), and Lance (Sandra), sister-in-law Susan Bolivar and husband John, four nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Edythe J. Neale.
Condolence messages may be sent to Arthur Dochterman, 1524 NE 17th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33304. There will be a Celebration of Keith’s Life on Sunday, July 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, 39 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Broward County, 2070 Griffin Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 or at humanebroward.com.
