Aging Gracelessly: 50 Shades of Fay Set for Encore CAMP Rehoboth Performances
She’s back! CAMP Rehoboth and local writer Fay Jacobs are teaming up for two more performances of Aging Gracelessly: 50 Shades of Fay. The first three performances in early May sold out in record time and there was still a long waiting list.
So, due to the incredibly positive response, not to mention rave reviews, Fay Jacobs and her solo reading Aging Gracelessly: 50 Shades of Fay will return to Rehoboth for two shows: Saturday, July 11 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 12 at 4 p.m. CAMP Rehoboth says thank you to the community for demanding these two encore performances! Tickets are $20 and available on the CAMP Rehoboth website.
The evening is comprised of two short acts (with an intermission for cocktails!) based, in part, on Jacobs’ four published memoirs. But it’s not just a reading from Fay’s books. The show features an all-new narrative covering LGBT issues, Rehoboth’s proud history and the national and Delaware fight for marriage equality.
At its core, the reading highlights the author’s insistence that nothing is ever so horrible if it’s worth the story you can tell. The show has Fay’s signature humor and relatable stories of our community tackling life, liberty, and the aging process.
Reviewer Michael Gilles of Theatre Eleven says, “Jacobs is a revelation as a performer, navigating her way through hilarious scenes of relationship angst and haunting ones of the challenges of being a gay woman in mainstream America. She shows a gift for comedic timing and emotional transitions, and her effortless interaction with the audience made it seem that she was sharing her stories in a living room with close friends.”
Other than this Rehoboth encore, the show is booked in New Orleans, Provincetown, and Allentown, PA, and performance contracts are pending in Arizona and Florida.
So come along for the ride as Fay and her wife Bonnie share life in one boat, two condos, two houses, and an RV, loving a succession of Schnauzers, and being domestic partnered, civil unioned, and married. From zip lines to skunk sprays, lesbian invisibility to marriage equality, join Fay Jacobs for the journey.
Tickets are $20 and available online or by calling CAMP Rehoboth at 302-227-5620.
