Rehoboth’s Legendary Double L Bar Is Back
While the beaches may have been packed, and the drinks at the various bars and restaurants in Rehoboth Beach were definitely flowing last season, there was just a certain something missing during the Summer of 2014 in our fair town.
Sure, the boys still hit Poodle Beach in their smallest suits, and the bears still continued to convene at Gordons Pond, but there was a hole in our community where the famous Double L Bar once operated.
A quick history lesson; The Double L Bar was a popular Rehoboth Beach nightspot for sixteen years, being a home away from home for many of the residents of Rehoboth Beach, as well as the many visitors who came to town every season.
The Double L may have been absent last season, but the bar is officially back, and according to the owners, here to stay.
The Double L started off 2015 with a Grand Re-opening MANdance kickoff party on May 16. The celebration will continue, as these parties are planned to continue every Saturday throughout the season.
Owners John Meng and Mark Fernstrom tell Letters that everything party-goers loved about the Double L Bar is going to be back; the old logo, the name, and of course, the dance bar concept.
In addition, there is a new, No Cover policy for both May and June (except Memorial Day Saturday). This pre-season No Cover promotion is the Double L’s way of saying “thank you” to their amazing and loyal patrons.
Starting in July, the cover charge will only be $5 (except for July 4th Saturday and Labor Day Saturday). There will also be many creative and interesting “No Cover” promos that will start in July and go through Labor Day weekend. These promos will be revealed week to week.
Known for its friendly staff and bartenders, Double L is welcoming back Chad States behind the bar as Star Bartender. Also on hand will be Ryan Ward, Billy Toner, and Steve Cannon—all well known in Rehoboth Beach.
On weekend days, the bartenders will head out to meet and greet beachgoers at both Poodle Beach and Gordons Pond Beach.
Of course, what would a dance bar be without the DJ? Stephen Durkin—direct from Voyeur in Philly and Paradise in Asbury Park—will be in the Double L booth promising “a kick ass party” with the hottest music, gorgeous eye candy, and fantastic energy.
Double L is located at 37298 Rehoboth Avenue; visit them at facebook.com/thedoublelbar.
