Ready, Set, Go! Women’s FEST 2016!
The short version: Tickets are on sale NOW at camprehoboth.com.
More specifically, be there with us April 7-10 at our two major venues, The Atlantic Sands Hotel and CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, both on Baltimore Avenue, easy to navigate all FEST long!
ENTERTAINERS! We’ve got Indigo Girl Emily Saliers (in a rare solo performance), Comic Poppy Champlin (with an all-new show!), singers Angie Haze and Julie Felix, rockers The Girlfriends, comic Kelli Dunham, CAMP’s own storyteller Fay Jacobs, plus producer Andrea Meyerson and her amazing film Letter to Anita (Bryant).
SPECIAL GUESTS! We’ll welcome Keynote Speaker and feminist icon Eleanor Smeal, President of the Feminist Majority Foundation, We have marvelous presenting sponsor, lesbian travel pioneer and co-founder of Olivia, Judy Dlugacz, in person, to receive a tribute for her awesome achievements and generosity. With an election year upon us, leadership is critical and we will also host Laura Liswood, Secretary General of the Council of Women World Leaders with a special event. On Sunday afternoon at CAMP Rehoboth we’ll have a League of Women Voters event where you will get tips on making your voice count this year!
SPORTS! We’ve got our popular golf outing (already sold out!), doubles pickleball and cornhole (sold out, too!) events, a bike ride, walking tour, and more. Don’t exhaust yourselves, because you gotta be in shape for the nighttime events like…
DANCES! We’ve got the infamous opening party on Wednesday at the Atlantic Sands with Viki Dee doing music—it always rocks! On Friday, there’s an awesome Singles Event at Lula Brazil with DJ Nan (on that marvelous and historic dance floor), and then the famous Saturday Ladies 2000 Tea Dance— this year at the top of the Henlopen Hotel, with an amazing view! Come early for the scenery and well, stay late for all kinds of scenery!
TALENT! Surround yourself with talent at the Women’s Photography, Art Show, and Speaking Out Exhibit at CAMP Rehoboth, and come meet award-winning lesbian authors reading from their new works at Proud Books. Authors Irene Fick, Claudia Turner, Rachelle Lee Schneider and Fay Jacobs will be on tap for the morning session and some well known writers from the Golden Crown Literary Society will visit from 2-5 p.m. At the big Expo at the Atlantic Sands on Saturday, there will be dozens of artisans showing and selling their wares, along with many of the FEST sponsors on hand for a meet and greet.
WORKSHOPS: Less is More! For FEST Pass holders only! We’ve only planned eight workshops this year but they are all amazing choices. We’ve got a hilarious comic/nurse to talk about health issues, another crackerjack comic to teach you to stand-up for yourself, a Genealogy workshop, a session on finding your creative spirit, two workshops (you asked for it!) that highlight relationships topics, Motherpeace Tarot taught by the woman who created the deck, and a National LGBTQ Task Force session focusing on the Transgender Community, and our collaboration. The choice will be difficult: they are all terrific!
AND MORE! There’s the annual Broadwalk on the Boardwalk to fight cancer—a much anticipated and hugely attended annual event, a raffle with amazing odds for a fabulous Olivia Tahitian Paradise Luxury cruise for two, the always-awesome FEST t-shirt by photographer/artist Geri Dibiase, the CAMP Rehoboth Outreach Program, a Sunday Brunch at Lula Brazil and a special non-partisan Political Forum for The Year of the Woman, with the League of Women Voters.
