The goal of this project is to:
- Increase awareness about drug/alcohol use, teen pregnancy and mental health, and sexually transmitted diseases.
- Provide primary activities to prevent substance use and abuse through a comprehensive use of evidence-based strategies including education, information dissemination, environmental, and community-based alternative activities.
- To provide a safe and cultured environment where everyone in the program is seen as equal regardless of the past.
“Delaware Teen Idol allows us the opportunity to look at “what’s right with our youth” says Hawkins. Besides being a fun competition among the young adults, the goal of this project is to provide education about various topics and encourage the practice of safe behaviors.”
