Setting the Agenda
In preparation for the many meetings of the Board of Directors during my eight years of serving as Executive Director of a trade association, I would reach out to Officers and Committee Chairs to inquire what items they needed to place on the meeting agenda. The agenda set, the meetings took place without a hitch. So it is a noteworthy matter of confusion and perplexity to me as I attempt to ascertain who sets the Gay Agenda.
I have heard about this Gay Agenda for years now. First of all, when do these meetings take place, and where do they take place? I have not seen any notices in Letters from CAMP Rehoboth about Global or National Gay Leadership Meetings, where the Gay Agenda would be set. Who is on this Gay Board of Directors? And why won’t they tell me what their agenda is?
In order to find the answer to these questions, I went to the supreme source of all true information—Google. Once there, it was quite startling to discover the darker side of the Gay Agenda. According to Wikipedia, “the phrase ‘the gay agenda’ was first used in public discourse in 1992 when the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian group, released a video series called The Gay Agenda as part of a pack of materials campaigning on homosexual issues and the ‘hidden gay agenda’.”
Now I understand! The Gay Agenda is hidden! That’s why I have never been able to find out what the agenda is, and who sets it. I am very impressed that the Gay Community has been able to keep their Agenda hidden for so long. Fortunately, all these conservative Christian groups have uncovered the Gay Agenda, and are actually willing to share it!
According to my research, the Gay Agenda got its first official, organized start nearly thirty years ago. At a 1987 Homosexual “March on Washington,” the gay lobby put forth the following demands:
“The government should provide protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment, public accommodations and education just as protection is provided on race, creed, color, sex, or national origin”: This would force all religious business owners, landlords and schools to abandon—under penalty of law—sincerely held and constitutionally protected religious beliefs.
An “anti-homophobic curriculum” should be implemented in the schools: This was a call for government-mandated, pro-homosexual indoctrination.
“The government should ensure all public education programs include programs designed to combat lesbian/gay prejudice. …Institutions that discriminate against lesbian and gay people should be denied tax-exempt status and federal funding”: This meant that many churches, religious schools, and religious businesses would not qualify for tax-exempt status.
“Public and private institutions should support parenting by lesbian or gay couples”: This has been mandated in numerous states such as California and Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, Catholic Charities’ adoption service was forced to close down because it refused to assign children to homosexuals for adoption.
Scrolling further down the Google search, the real Gay Agenda comes to light. In his treatise from 2008, Matt Barber shares this inside information: “At its core is a concerted effort to remove from society all traditional notions of sexual morality and replace them with the post-modern concept of sexual relativism. That is to say, when it comes to sex, there is never right or wrong. All sexual appetites are ‘equal.’ If it feels good, do it. Ultimately, the homosexual lobby’s primary objective is to radically redefine our foundational institutions of legitimate marriage and the nuclear family by unraveling God’s natural design for human sexuality. In so doing, they hope to elevate their own spiritual and biological counterfeit and establish a sexually androgynous society wherein natural distinctions between male and female are dissolved. This creates cultural and moral anarchy.”
And then it goes downhill from there! Some of the most off-the-wall, incredible conspiracy-theorist-driven diatribes have all the web space they need to perpetuate their drivel. If all the pages of these fear-laced essays were stacked together, they would exceed the shelf space of the new Lewes Public Library.
On a lighter note, my good friend Bill Gluth, from Alexandria, has shared with me his own Gay Agenda, in his attempt to be transparent. It is as follows.
1. Have coffee.
2. Check Facebook.
3. Watch The View.
4. Go to the gym.
5. Have lunch/brunch.
6. Check Facebook.
7. Go shopping.
8. Monday: manicure; Wednesday: massage; Friday: facial
9. Check Facebook.
10. Happy hour, make martinis.
11. Watch Ellen.
12. Check Facebook.
13. Have dinner with the boys.

As Bill says, “So there you have it. Don’t worry, I’m not pushing this either. It’s always subject to change.”
