Sundance Turns 30! Sundance 2017— Rainbow XXX: Solar NRG
When you’re 30, you know how to have fun and celebrate with energy, style, and abandon. Well, Sundance is about to turn 30, so get ready to celebrate!
From its unconventional location (the interior of the Rehoboth Mall) to its cutting-edge sound (Joe Gauthreaux) and lighting effects (Paul Turner), Sundance is a rowdy 30-year-old, ready to rock. Add a treasure-packed auction, filled with dream vacations, one-of-a-kind gifts, and fabulous dining and shopping experiences, and you know this will be a weekend to remember.
Sundance 2017—Rainbow XXX: Solar NRG—will be held September 2-3. The spectacular two-day event draws nearly 1,000 participants and raises much-needed funds for CAMP Rehoboth.
For the last time before construction begins, Sundance is returning to the Rehoboth Mall atrium and interior, a venue that provides not only abundant free parking but also a fantastic party space, creative design options, and a dynamic backdrop for the high-energy event. Event organizers will transform the mall space to create an unbelievable setting for the popular auction and dance events. Shuttles will be provided from downtown Rehoboth Beach throughout the night of the dance.
Sundance participants can attend either or both nights of the event (tickets are $45 for one night, $80 for both). Tickets can be purchased online at camprehoboth.com, or call CAMP Rehoboth.
The Sundance Auction—Day 1: Let the Bidding Begin!
The first night of the Sundance, Saturday, September 2, 7-10 p.m., is the silent and live auction. Hundreds of items will be available for bidding, including vacation packages, dining opportunities, fine art, gift items, one-of-a-kind experiences, cruises from Olivia Travel and Accent on Travel, and other auction items across a wide spectrum of price points. Popular auctioneer Lorne Crawford will lead the live auction, and there will be a cocktail buffet, and an open bar all night.
Vacation items to be auctioned include a Princess Cruise for two to Alaska (2018 season) from Accent On Travel and Princess Cruises; Olivia’s 45th Anniversary Caribbean Cruise for two (April 2-9, 2018), compliments of Olivia Travel; a Waikiki Beach Walk two-bedroom condo for four (February 10-17, 2018), compliments of Joe DiSalvo; and a condo in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, for a week, compliments of Mike DeFlavia and Tony Sowers.
Some of the other great items to be auctioned off include two paddleboards (donated by Natalie Moss), a 55” HD TV (donated by Laura Simon and Cathin Bishop), original paintings by Bill Snow and Ward Ellinger, wonderful jewelry from Holland Jewelers and Elegant Slumming, a full-page color ad in 15 issues in Letters from CAMP Rehoboth, and the opportunity to be photographed by Carolyn Watson and featured on the cover of an issue of Letters from CAMP Rehoboth.
It’s All About the Dance!—Day 2: The Sundance
Sunday, September 3, from 8 p.m.-2 a.m., is the famous dance party that gives Sundance its name, and features music by Joe Gauthreaux, one of the hottest DJs and producers in the industry. Gauthreaux (pronounced GO TROW) has a resume full of club appearances and main events that spans the last 15 years. He has played almost every major circuit event in the world, including Winter Party Festival, Black Party, White Party Miami, Song Kran Bangkok, New Year’s Rio at The Week, and Atlantis Cruises, among others. A staple at major clubs across North America, Brazil, and Asia, his name is synonymous with having an amazing and unique musical experience. His production career has included official remixes of major dance artists like Steven Redant, Leo Blanco, Tony Moran, and Kristine W., not to mention mainstream top 40 artists like Adele, Troye Sivan, Justin Bieber, Brian Justin Crum, and NeYo.
Adding to the excitement is Paul Turner, touring lighting designer/director for Robin Thicke, who has created unique lighting designs for Liza Minnelli, Mary J. Blige, and many other musical, theatrical, television, and event productions, and is a longtime Sundance favorite.
The Sundance dance night also includes an open bar throughout the night, and shuttle service from downtown Rehoboth Beach during the night.
Sundance is the biggest dance party of the summer. Come early, and dance all night. For dancers, the last hour is always magic! Don’t miss it.
