CAMP Rehoboth Outreach Program (CROP)
CAMP Rehoboth Outreach Program
What could be better than seeing a child’s eyes light up as they plant a seed or the feeling of accomplishment when viewing a newly cleared trail at the State Park?
Whether helping to address hunger and homelessness, to improving our environment and bringing enriching activities to children, youth, and senior citizens, CAMP Rehoboth Outreach Program (CROP) continues the work of CAMP Rehoboth by uniting individuals and groups in creating a better community.
CROP began in 2009 as Volunteer on Vacation (VOV), when a group of individuals got together to respond to community needs and paint the West Rehoboth Community Center. In 2015, VOV became CAMP Rehoboth Outreach Program or “CROP” a new name that better communicates to the community and interested individuals what the program is all about.
Today CROP continues to offer community service opportunities to all who have a few hours to contribute and a willingness to make a difference. No special skills are required, and CROP projects are always rewarding and fun.
CROP volunteers can be recognized by their bright green tee shirts as they work with kids, clear trails, and cook for the homeless, sort canned goods, or greet people at a concert. Each year CROP volunteers contribute hundreds of hours toward making Rehoboth Beach and its surrounding communities a better place to live and visit. CROP also supports and partners with area groups and nonprofits that serve the community. These include:
- Delaware Food Bank
- Habitat for Humanity
- Immanuel Homeless Shelter
- Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park
- Burton Village 4H Afterschool Program
- Gull House Adult Activities Center
- Center for the Inland Bays
- International Student Outreach Program
