CAMPsafe - It's SAFE Tea Dance Sunday! (...and other important things to remember) |
Summer is such a hectic time of year that its quite easy to fail to remember something important. Some of us forget to bring our sunglasses to the beach, others leave our cell phones in the sand. We might forget a good friends birthday or another important date. Fortunately, our CAMPsafe lifeguards are here with helpful reminders of some of the things well definitely want to remember. First, this Sunday (June 20th) is the premiere of our three summer SAFE-Tea Dances at Cloud 9 Restaurant and Bar, 234 Rehoboth Ave. DJ Keana will provide great dance sounds from 5:00 8:00 p.m. There is no cover charge, and all men and women are invited. Well be on hand with giveaways of CAMPsafe Lifeguard tank tops and other door prizes, plus complimentary condoms. While the tea dances are just for fun, theyre also a way of encouraging each other not to forget the most important thing on our summer list. We need to remember to protect ourselvesand our partnerswhenever we have sex. If we lose our sunglasses, we can replace them at many of our local shops. If we forget a buddys birthday, we can send a belated card or gift. However, if we forget our common sense in the passion of a moment, we may find it much more difficult to retrieve our health. So, even if we have to tie a string around our finger to assist our memory, we wont ever forget to slip on a condom for protection. While partying at Sundays SAFE-Tea Dance, please remember to pick up a handful of our free lubricated condoms in their informational wrappers. You never know whom you might meet on the dance floor. Perhaps youll even strike up a conversation with one of our handsome CAMPsafe guards. Next, dont forget to pick up your copies of all six of our fabulous postcards featuring your CAMPsafe lifeguards at safe play. Theyre suitable for mailing as well as savoring. Well have a good supply of the cards at Sundays dance, but you can also scoop up various cards at the following 21 businesses. Bars and Restaurants: Blue Moon, Cloud Nine, Double L, Harlows, Iguana Grill, Nomad, Purple Parrot and Renegade Resort. Guest Houses: the Beach House, Cabana Gardens, Mallard, Rams Head, Rehoboth Guest House, Renegade Motel, the Royal Rose, Shore Inn, Silver Lake. Shops: Beach Essentials, Every Wear, Lambda Rising, Splash. We dont want to forget any business that would like to distribute our free postcards. If we havent reached yours yet, please call us with a gentle reminder that you would like some cards (and/or condoms). More Things to Remember: As you flip through the pages of this issue of LETTERS, keep an eye out for our annual CAMPsafe Mens Survey of Safe Sex Practices. Yes, it can be a nuisance to fill out such a form and stick it in the mail, but this one is very important to our efforts to develop beneficial programs, in cooperation with the State of Delawares Department of Health and Human Services (which supports our efforts). The information you provide is anonymous, so you can feel free to tell it like it is. You will also find copies of the survey at the Tea Dances (where you can turn in the form you find in this issue), and the questionnaire will soon be available at the CAMP Rehoboth offices and on our web site: www.camprehoboth.com. Fill out the form only once, but please fill one out. Wed really appreciate it. (You may mail your survey responses to CAMP Rehoboth, 39 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.) Dont forget also to register for our first ever CAMPsafe Mens Safe Sex Weekend Retreat to be hosted by the Renegade Resort on Oct 2-3, 1999. The retreat will feature a pair of exciting seminars with expert facilitators from the Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington. You may sign up for one or both sessions, Saturdays "The Anatomy of Pleasure" and Sundays "The Dating Game: Finding and Building Relationships." As with all CAMPsafe activities, there is no charge to participate. And, the Renegade is offering a special discounted room package for those of you who wish to stay at its motel on Friday and/or Saturday nights, including free admission to that Saturday nights dance. The group sessions are going to be fun as well as informational. But the groups will be limited in size, so it is important to register early. Simply send your name, address and phone number to CAMPsafe Mens Retreat, CAMP Rehoboth, 39 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Or e-mail us at campsafe@camprehoboth.com. Specify whether you wish to be a part of one or both groups. Then call the Renegade directly at 302-227-4713 for room reservations. While were trying to remember so many important things, we dont want to forget to thank Russell and Eric of the Mallard Guest House for their terrific assistance in distributing Welcome Bags of CAMPsafe goodies to 50 gay mens beach houses over Memorial Day Weekend. We will continue to distribute the bags to houses listed in this years Beach Book. But, if your house has not received its bag filled with CAMPsafe magnets, do-not-disturb door hangers, decks of playing cards, tattoos, condoms and more, please stop by the CAMP Rehoboth office or give us a call and remind us. After all, there is ever so much for us to remember during the busy summer season. We can all help each other keep in mind whats most importantespecially our good health. So, have fun, play smart, and CAMPsafe. We hope to see all of you at tea time on Sunday. |
