Apparently in a huff after being upstaged by marvelous Marvin Miller at 37 Quillens annual birthday dinner two weeks ago, Rehoboth Beachs essential clothing provider, David Schaefer, has declared "no more birthdays!" Clearly, attendees of the social gathering directed all the birthday praise toward Marvin, whoat the ripe age of 35suspiciously needed three birthday cakes to fit all the candles. Memorial Day weekend rolled in with a pile of parties starting on Saturday with 110 Philadelphias early evening escapade and 211 Lakes lavish lounge. Although each catered to two very different crowds, both parties were carefully planned and executed with everything from fancy bar set-ups to fresh flowers, undoubtedly setting the tone for the sensational social season to come. The big fun, however, began that evening at Gary Seidens "snappy" birthday bash at 119 Norfolk. And snappy it was. Preparing to revamp his Norfolk nook in the next few weeks, Gary pulled out all the stops with luscious lighting, dazzling decorations, and the worlds best artwork ever to be drawn ON THE FLOOR! Way cool, way snappy! The weekend continued on with a housewarming party at Peter Rosensteins beautiful Versailles at Eagles Landing pad and a knockout party thrown by Beach Essentials in the courtyard outside the store. The free drinks and music by DJ Darryl Strickland were enough to lure those waiting in line at Blue Moon to venture over for a look see. It was pretty obvious that a party was in full swing, but still, there were those passersby who kept insisting some sort of liquidation sale was going on. Go figure. Cover charges at Cloud 9 and the Renegade didnt stop party guys and gals from dancing the night (and afternoon) away. The Renegade counted a record 1,023 women for the tea dance produced by DJ Jam Foks, Sunday of Memorial weekend, and their Star Wars party was SRO. Cloud 9s new $2 cover may have something to do with their lineup of four star DJs this summer, including local favorite Brian Norwood. To help eliminate long lines, Cloud 9 co-owners John Berdini, Aaron Flamm and Kelley Harp have created a pink pass that waives the $2 cover and allows immediate entrance. The card is appropriately titled "Rear Entry Access." However, in order to legally use the phrase "Rear Entry Access," Flamms boyfriend and rising porn star, Lance Schema, had to get permission to use his new movies title. 117 Atlantic is again receiving beach buzz for its hush-hush late night pool parties, but not for the usual splishing and splashing that the guests have come to know. According to several recent visitors to the pool, one night a mysterious guest positioned himself on the houses upper deck and began peeing into the pool area below. Fortunately, he did it on his own shoes. John Grimes has Chris Riss seeing red. After graciously being invited to visit 10 George for one of its big Saturday night dinners, the ex-housemate tip-toed into Chris bedroom and sprinkled powdered red dye in his bed, boots, pants pockets, socks, shampoo and suntan oil. As it turns out, this gossip columnist happens to share that same bedroom. One has to wonder if Mr. Grimes just wanted his name mentioned in Being Scene, or if something more sinister is afoot? For the record, after washing our clothes with the red dye, the members of 10 George would like to say that our clothes have never been such a FABULOUS shade of pink! On June 12, dont miss the annual Bachelor Auction at the Blue Moon from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All proceeds from the auction are being donated to LOVE 99, which benefits SCAC and CAMP Rehoboth. Chris Riss will be your auctioneer (come see him in his new pink LOVE t-shirt), and a completely new batch of boys will be revealed. Included in this years auction are Bruce "filled with juice" Namerow, Greg "hell make you beg" Brennan, John "turn you on" Lehmann, and CAMPsafe lifeguard, Mike "as you like" Ferens. There are a dozen bachelors in all, each complete with a dinner for two certificate to a fine Rehoboth restaurant. Virginia real estate king, Kevin Love, has informed Being Scene that he vows to be the highest bidder for his stud bud, Greg Brennan, and he challenges anyone to beat him. Hope youve sold a few houses lately, Lady Love. Youll need the money! If you want to be a sponsor or host for LOVE 99, stop by the CAMP Rehoboth office to fill out a form. Youll receive a ticket to the dance and the private sponsor party July 3rd, a LOVE 99 T-shirt, and your name on promotional materials. LOVE 99 is Sunday, July 4th from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Rehoboth Convention Center. Its open bar with DJ Darryl Strickland. Tickets: $35 in advance; $45 at the door. Call 1-800-494-TIXS. Next weekend, watch for invites for 23 Robinsons party from 9 p.m. - midnight on Saturday, June 12th. There must be a theme, but its unknown at the moment, so be sure to bring your entire costume collection. Then, on June 19th from 9 p.m. to midnight, 208 Hickman is hosting a Tarzan party (Yes, you can go as Jane). Tom Minnuto will be seeing you throughout the summer. If you have something to say, he wants to hear it. You may contact Tom by visiting www.BeachHouseNetwork.com. |
