The Day Our Hearts Stopped
The Day Our Hearts Stopped, photographs taken by Mike Gatty at Ground Zero, will be on display at Celsius Restaurant for one day only. The exhibition will also include pieces from his new work Creation Collection, photographic collages which insert angels into earthly scenes and Whispers From the Backwater which features original photography and prose. Mike's work will be on display at Celsius Restaurant, 50-C Wilmington Avenue during The Great Taste of Rehoboth, May 17 from 4-7 p.m. 302-227-5767. Simplicity and Clarity Originally from Spain and Norway, Aina Nergaard-Nammack now resides in Lewes and exhibits extensively as a full time artist. Her works are abstract-representational, bringing components of a painting together rather than merely copying from nature. Aina draws and paints with color using the entire surface of a canvas. As the work progresses, the boldness transforms itself into more subtle shapes and colors. Aina's work will be on display through May 31 at the Blue Moon, 35 Baltimore Avenue, 302-227-6515. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to CAMP Rehoboth's AIDS projects. Rahamin Exhibits at Cloud 9 Rehoboth artist, Robert Rahamin, will exhibit his recent collection of contemporary oil paintings at Cloud 9 Restaurant, 234 Rehoboth Avenue, from May 11 through June 21, 2002. An opening reception will take place on Saturday, May 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. All are invited to attend. This new collection, entitled Palaces of Venice, is the inspiration of a recent trip to the Italian city, a favorite place of the artist. The splendor of Venetian palaces, richly decorated churches with gold and silver glass mosaic tiles, and the many crumbling building facades of this ancient city are expressed through the artists' contemporary approach to painting. For more information, call Cloud 9 at 302-226-1999. Laura Hickman at Peninsula Gallery Bethany artist Laura Hickman returns to the Peninsula Gallery with "Memories of Italy" based on her visits over the past several years. Hickman will feature mainly pastels of the Tuscan countryside and the Ligurian Coast. She will also have two or three oils on canvas. An artist's reception will be held on Saturday May 4th from 4-7 p.m. The Peninsula Gallery is located on the first floor of the Beacon Motel at 520 E. Savannah Road in Lewes, just across the canal. 302- 645-0551. The following are at the Rehoboth Art League in Henlopen Acres. Artist receptions will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 5-7 p.m. For more information call 302-227-8408. Color Punctuates Baxendell Exhibit Visitors to Julie Baxendell's Recent Works in Water-Media & Oils exhibition will be surrounded by works that share a strong design sense reinforced by intense, saturated color. A 2002 winner of a Fellowship Grant from The Delaware Division of the Arts, Julie lives and paints at her studio on Prime Hook Beach. Her newest works can be seen in the Tubbs Gallery through May 26th. Letters Cover Rug on Display John Flourney has been hooking rugs since 1994, and has hooked a wide range of subjects and styles. People, however, remain his favorite. A main feature of the current exhibit at the Rehoboth Art League will be a rug showing the cover of the May 30, 1997 issue of Letters From CAMP Rehoboth. A selection of John's work will be on display through May 26th in the RAL's Homestead Gallery. Art League Shows Robert Wright Robert Wright's pictures are the kind that linger in memory-of places visited, lived in and well known-from his classic etching/aquatint, My First Home: The Manse, Manila, redolent with the color and light of the colonial Philippines-to the more atmospheric and impressionistic monotype, Lake Maggiore in Memory, which captures the beauty, mystery and essence of that Italian resort. Remembered Places-Etchings and Monotypes by Robert Wright can be seen in the Ventures Gallery from May 3 through May 26. |
