Beer Fans Focus on Dogfish Head Beer lovers from across the United States have been seeing a lot of Dogfish Head and Sussex County, Delaware recently. In the past month, the local brewery/restaurant/distillery won a national beer competition, was featured on the cover of a national beer magazine, garnered coverage by The New York Times, and won the only medal presented at a prestigious beer festival. Dogfish Head's 90 Minute India Pale Ale was voted champion this week in the Realbeer.com's annual Battle of the Beers. The contest is modeled after the NCAA men's basketball championship tournament, with 64 American beers going head-to-head beginning on March 16, and whittling down to the final vote between two beers on April 5th. The May issue of All About Beer, the leading consumer magazine for beer lovers in the United States, features Dogfish Head founder and President Sam Calagione on the cover. The feature story in the current issue is about East Coast brewing. The article examines the brewing culture on the east coast of the United States. A unique beer-serving mechanism, invented and fabricated at Dogfish Head's Milton microbrewery was featured in The New York Times last week. The "Organoleptic Hops Tanducer," or "Randall The Enamel Animal," as it is more commonly referred to, is a filter that is attached to a draft beer line and packed with hops. To enjoy more beers and ales produced by Dogfish Head, visit their restaurant at 320 Rehoboth Avenue. Don't Forget to Check Your Drawers Do you have any costume jewelry around that you no longer wear? How about scarves, or a purse or two? Here is an opportunity to put those nice, but no longer needed, accessories to good use. CAMP Rehoboth is working with Camp to Belong, a national non-profit organization dedicated to reuniting the biological siblings of children in foster care. Children from all over the country spend a week with their brothers and sisters. Of the over 500,000 children in foster care, 75% are separated from their siblings. CAMP Rehoboth has taken on the task of collecting costume jewelry, watches, hair clips, scarves, and purses that are in good shape, but no longer needed. We will send these items to Camp to Belong where they will be sold to raise money to send kids to camp. It is amazing how the money adds up! Please drop off your no longer needed accessories at CAMP Rehoboth, 39 Baltimore Avenue. For more information on Camp to Belong, please go to www.camptobelong.org.
