LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
Speak Out |
The calls and letters to the Congress are going 10 to 1 supporting the federal marriage amendment. Even if you are opposed to gay marriage, the constitutional amendment is a horrible idea. Please, tell everyone you know to speak to their Senators as well!
We only have until early July to stop the Federal Marriage Amendment. Help us get 250,000 people to reach their Senators before the votesimply complete the information at www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/senate_oppose_fma/forward. Megan Reynolds There are so many times in recent years that we have gone to the polls and voted for the lesser of the two evils. We support candidates because they are marginally better than their opponents and not because we really believe they are the best. But this year in Rehoboth Beach voters have the chance to cast a ballot for someone who is really the best. I urge all eligible voters to cast a proud ballot for Patrick Gossett for Rehoboth Beach City Commissioner. Patrick is the best for so many reasons. I have known Patrick for many years and have seen him in action (that's working), both in Washington, DC and in Rehoboth Beach. He is smart, honest, dedicated and a really hard worker. He is a gay man who understands that the major issues in Rehoboth Beach today aren't gay or straight issues; they are issues that will allow all of us to live together in a better community. These are the issues of land use, traffic patterns, parking, and the balance between homeowners and the business community, which is the economic engine of Rehoboth. We all want to preserve the small town feel of a beach community, but Patrick understands that the changes that have already taken place won't allow us to just put our heads in the sand and hope for the best. We have to come up with real, innovative and creative solutions soon or we will be facing a crisis of our own making. Patrick has served for six years on the Planning Commission and is one of the authors of the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP). Patrick believes that the CDP is the vehicle by which Rehoboth can properly manage its growth. Patrick has an in-depth understanding of the Rehoboth Beach codes and is best able to work to help the City develop the new ordinances and revised zoning that will manage growth in a way that is best for all of Rehoboth's citizens and visitors. He has a vision for Rehoboth that we can share. It is that of a vibrant, exciting beach town that accommodates the needs and desires of all its residents and visitors. A town that will continue to attract people on a year round basis because of what it has to offer, but a town that will do so without losing that feeling of warmth and personal welcome that brought so many of us here to begin with. I join with the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and many others who have already endorsed Patrick Gossett for Rehoboth Beach City Commissioner. Join with us and take this only too rare chance to go to the polls and vote for the best. Peter D. Rosenstein Kevin Bliss and I will be hosting a coffee and conversation hour for Patrick Gossett on Saturday, July 10, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Our address is 6 State Road, Rehoboth Beach. We are pleased to invite members of the community to turn out in support of Patrick's candidacy for the Rehoboth Beach City Commission. This is not a fundraiser, but rather an opportunity for folks to come meet Patrick, ask questions, or tell him what's on their mind. Damien Brouillard |
