Connections Never have I believed more in connecting with others, especially family and friends, than I do at this time. When any one of us goes through life's changes, connecting with others makes the passage easier and gives us the strength we need to make it through painful times. As the summer solstice approaches and we experience maximum light and minimum darkness, take time to experience the warmth of the sun and reflect on the warmth of your connections with others. It's the time to settle your differences and build on your relationships far and wide. In that way will our world be more connected despite distance and time and we will find peace even in chaos.
Founders' Circle What a night it was! Our fourth annual Founders' Circle Black and White Beach Ball on June 5, once again a sold-out event, reflected the true diversity and heart of our community. People from all walks of life came together to celebrate the generosity of our 266 Founders' Circle members; the success of our Capital Campaign at the close of its third year; and to show their support for CAMP Rehoboth's mission and purpose. Local and state politicians also mingled with the crowd in what is an important election year for our community. Everyone was dazzled as they entered the Atlantic Sands Hotel's Ballroom that was decorated with black and white beach balls hanging from black and white checkered panels. (Yes, there is even a story to tell about how much the NASCAR fans staying in the hotel really loved our decorations!) The beautiful floral arrangements by South Pacific Florists added just the right colors. The Atlantic Sands staff was wonderful and we thank them for their hard work and responsiveness throughout the night. We thank Peggy Raley and her accompanists' for their wonderful performances during the evening. They added a touch of class to the event! A special thanks to Jon McDonough from the CAMP Rehoboth Youth Group who attended to help us cut the green ribbon signifying another year of our Capital Campaign. The HeART of the Community Art Auction is a popular part of the evening. We appreciate the generosity of the 17 participating artists who worked around the theme of HeARTwork. Each of them created a beautiful work of art that captured the hearts of the attendees. The result is that we were able to raise a record $36,000 from the auction. Thank you to our dynamic auctioneer, Chris Riss, who can persuade even the most reserved of us to bid on an item, and to his assistants who kept the auction running smoothly. Thank you to everyone for making the auction such a success! In the next issue of Letters, we will let you know how our community has responded regarding new membership pledges and upgrades since the event. We have two years left of our five-year Capital Campaign. Act now to give back to your community and build on a connection that will be there for you for years to come. There are eight membership levels and several different ways to pay that allows anyone to participate. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. By joining, your name or the name of a loved one will be included in the Charter Member permanent records; you'll receive fun gifts; and depending on your level, your name will be inscribed on a brick, a tile, a door or a room. Join now by completing the pledge form included in this issue of Letters and return it to the CAMP Rehoboth office. Help build your community and your connections!
