Connections The biggest holidays of the year are coming up. All of them have wonderful traditional meanings that we do not usually experience at any other time of the year. It has to do with the sights and smells and sounds that we associate with some memory that we call "home." The holidays create within us a sense of kindness and concern for others that we ultimately satisfy through our generosity and giving and a renewed sense of family, friendship, and belonging. It is a time to join with family and friends in celebration, to appreciate everything that we have and to fill our hearts and lives with the magic of the season.
All of us at CAMP Rehoboth extend our appreciation this holiday season to each of you who are part of our wonderful community. The many ways that we experience your generosity and support are truly heartwarming as we continue to work on our mission and purpose. Our Community Center is a place called "home." More than a physical dwelling, home has more to do with all of us in our community who are part of it and the kinds of things that we do. The physical space plays a role but it tends to be the people inside and the things that happen there that creates a safe place. Please join us in giving thanks for what we all have created and help us celebrate the magic and the spirit of this holiday season. Founders' Circle We celebrate the generosity of our community by acknowledging the "gifts" since 2001 from our Founders' Circle members to the Capital Campaign for the purpose of creating a full-service Community Center. We have received $773,610 from 311 individuals, foundations, and businesses toward our $1,000,000 goal by 2006. This is truly remarkable and demonstrates their strong commitment to our family and home. This is the time to think about holiday gifts and tax deductions. A membership gift in the Founders' Circle is a way to involve yourself or a loved one, helping us create a special place for all, and benefit from your tax deductible gift if you itemize deductions on your tax return. If you own securities or other property that have increased in value, you may wish to consider using them to fund charitable gifts this year. It can be a way to maximize your tax savings while having little or no effect on your spendable income. You can also make gifts that will be received after you or your loved ones no longer need the assets used to fund the gifts. You can provide gifts through your will; living trusts; life insurance; retirement plans; or charitable remainder trusts. They are truly gifts that keep on giving! We will have information on these various ways of giving in our February, 2005 issue. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Become a member or upgrade your membership before the end of the year and you will receive a 2004 tax letter to assist you with your tax preparation. Simply complete the pledge form in this issue of Letters by choosing one of the many levels that fits your budget and one of the many ways to make payment. We accept cash, checks, American Express, Mastercard or VISA. Once your pledge is processed, you will receive cool gifts as our way of saying thank you for making a difference. Have a beautiful holiday and may the joy of the season remain with you throughout the coming year! Pledge Form available in PDF format HERE Andrea Andrus is the CAMP Rehoboth Development Director.
