Now I'm really curious! In a recent conversation, in a not so direct way, I was asked why I moved to Rehoboth Beach and why I support CAMP Rehoboth. I began to wonder how many other members of our community have similar stories and the reasons they support CAMP Rehoboth. The answer to why I moved to Rehoboth Beach is very closely tied to the second question of support for CAMP Rehoboth. First of all, I had been vacationing in Rehoboth Beach for more than 30 years and my partner, Mary, found that she loved the city as much as I did. We visited in all seasons and found something special about each. Then, both of us had very unnerving experiences in our jobs related to the whole gay issue. We knew how accepting the Rehoboth Beach community was and how at ease we felt when we were here. Next, Mary had a life-threatening illness, came to Rehoboth Beach while recuperating and really didn't want to leave. That day was the start of our move to Rehoboth Beach. CAMP Rehoboth was there for us. They suggested the realtor, the painter, and the electrician. They helped us become involved in the community through volunteering and gave us an opportunity to see just how much the health of CAMP Rehoboth influences the greater community. We were donors before there was a Founders' Circle because we saw both the need and the results of CAMP Rehoboth's work. Now, I have a request. I told you I was curious about why other members of our community have chosen to move here (or remain here if you are a native) and to become part of CAMP Rehoboth through the Founders' Circle Capital Campaign. Please let us hear your story. We will print a selection of them over the next few months. Just let us know if you prefer to remain anonymous and we'll honor your wishes. My e-mail is beth@camprehoboth.com or you can send snail mail to 37 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Founders' Circle If you have not yet joined the Founders' Circle Capital Campaign, please consider showing your support for our community in this most meaningful way. Become a stakeholder along with more than 700 of your friends and neighbors. So far, our community has pledged $1,040,390.60 with $785,284.30 of those pledges being fulfilled to date. If you are having difficulty finding the right present, a donation to the Founders' Circle makes a very fitting gift for birthdays and anniversaries. You will be making an investment in our community, plus it's a great tax deduction. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. The dedicated members of CAMP Rehoboth's board share my appreciation of the commitment made by all of you who have become recent members of the Founders' Circle, upgraded your original pledge, or made your pledge payment. Remember, we would like to hear your story, too. Pledge Form available in PDF format HERE Beth Fitton is Development Director at CAMP Rehoboth.
