Carol Fezuk Named Marketing Director Anthony Kulp and Andy Staton, owners of Beach to Bay Real Estate Center are pleased to welcome Carol Fezuk as Director of Marketing. For the past 15 years, Ms. Fezuk's career focused on publishing and marketing of various target-niche periodicals in the Rehoboth Beach and Lewes area. Lagniappe: a Little Something Extra In the tradition of lagniappe (lan-yap), the giving of "a little something extra," three local galleries are banding together from 6-8 p.m. on the first Friday, second Saturday, and third Thursday of each month. Panache, 129-B Rehoboth Avenue in the Rehoboth Mews (between Baltimore and Rehoboth Avenue), 227-9229, features unique fine contemporary crafts for the home in glass, ceramics, wood, metal, and fiber, as well as an extensive collection of jewelry, all available in a range of price points. Panache was nominated by Niche Magazine as a 2006 Top 100 Retailer of American crafts. Galleria Tango, 216-A Rehoboth Avenue, 227-1880, recently moved from Baltimore Avenue to new digs on Rehoboth Avenue. Featured is an eclectic assortment of handcrafts with a Latin flair from Central and South America, as well as works by local artisans. Colorful, functional, and decorative works provide a feast for the eyes and spirit. Detail, 117 Church Street, 227-8170, features art-inspired home, garden, and paper merchandise in "urban cottage" style at affordable prices. The wall art includes painting, photography, collage, and mixed media, offered in a range of styles and price points. The store layout, with room vignettes, shows how artwork can be creatively displayed in the home. Local guitarist Jonny Maduro will be playing at the Coffee Mill in the Rehoboth Mews during most of these evening events. Epworth United Methodist Church Breaks Ground for New Building Epworth United Methodist Church held a groundbreaking service at the new church site on Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach on Sunday, July 9. More than 200 persons gathered to celebrate the start of construction on the 47,000 square foot structure. As an inclusive congregation, this is a significant step as Epworth increases its capacity to serve the gay and lesbian community as well as the greater Rehoboth area community. Plans call for the new church building to be completed by December of 2007. Love 2006 at the Rehoboth Convention Center with Disco Diva Martha Wash and DJs David Knapp & Mark Thomas The fourth of July weekend found the crowds gathered at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center for the twelfth annual Love Dance to benefit the Sussex County AIDS Council (SCAC) and the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. Centaur's sensational DJ, David Knapp, on his Global Groove Tour, was on hand for Ultimate Love: The Main Event on July 1. The next night, the crowds gathered for the Love Retro Ball with music by DJ Mark Thomas and a special performance by disco diva Martha Wash. Love Benefit Chairman Bill Alldredge, and his hard working committee, went all out to make sure that everyone had a great time throughout the entire weekend. SCAC and CAMP Rehoboth are non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations serving persons in Rehoboth Beach and its surrounding communities. Team Rehoboth Beach at Take the Flame Showing At the showing of the documentary Take the Flame, members of Team Rehoboth Beach were sent off in style to represent our community at the Chicago Gay Games. Pictured are: Guy Abernathy, Darin Slade, Deb Ward, Bill McManus, Barb Thompson, Jim Nolan, Anita Pettit, Mark Cosgrove, Evie Simmons, Tony Francis, Pattie Magee, Rich Williams, and Di Brikbeck. Lest you forget, the Opening Ceremonies for the Chicago Gay Games is being produced by Rehoboth's own Ric Kirby. We're keeping our fingers crossed that Team Rehoboth Beach will come back bearing medals. Follies Takes Center Stage at Rehoboth Convention Center Christopher Peterson, North America's foremost female impersonator will once again be the emcee of the CAMP Rehoboth Follies, July 22 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. The Follies, "a legendary evening of song, dance, laughs, liquor and some very campy naughtiness," is one of the highlights of the Rehoboth Beach summer season. Troupes vie for the privilege of taking home a gold, silver or bronze Barbie statuette all for the fun of putting on a show and raising money to support the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. |
