The time when thoughts turn to apple cider, fall foliage, and of course....HOW IN THE HECK CAN WE SCARE OURSELVES SILLY THIS MONTH?? Halloweena holiday that we never outgrowis right around the corner. We're always looking for something spooky to bring that cathartic "chill up our spine," and where else can you get more creeped out than at a state park after dark, when all the ghoulies are hiding behind trees waiting for you! For those of you with small children who don't feel like staying up all night chasing the monsters out from under the bed...Cape Henlopen State Park offers a "Fantasy Trail." All the favorite storybook characters come to life in a very tame environment. We've got a full menu of spooky happenings throughout the month of Oct. in a state park! So come on out. We're saving a really creepy place for you!! Delaware State Park's spooky programs include: Haunted Fort Delaware Oct. 13-14, 20-21, 27-28 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30 p.m. As Halloween approaches, the legendary ghosts and ghouls at Fort Delaware rise again to make your hair stand. This is not your average ghostly tour! Join the park staff as we look for the undead of Pea Patch Island and their otherworldly secrets. Bring your bravest face! Pre-registration is required. The program fee is $22 per person, and is limited to groups of 55. For more info call 302-834-7941 Brandywine Creek State Park's Haunted Trail Oct. 20 & 21 7-10 p.m. We're going all out for this 15th Anniversary year! New scenes, amazing scares and top notch creepiness will get your fright meter rising. Glowing jack-o'-lanterns, ghoulish characters, surprises, freaky scenes and mazes are some the new scares happening at Brandywine Creek State Park's Haunted Trail. Come enjoy some good old-fashioned haunting. This program is recommended for ages 12 and older. No pre-registration is required and walk-ins are welcome. Program fee is $8 per person. Brandywine Creek State Park is located just off the intersections of Rt. 92 and 100, Greenville, DE 19803 Cape Henlopen Children's Fantasy Trail Oct. 27 & 28 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 5-7 p.m. Bring the kids, costumes are appreciated, to a bigger and better Fantasy Trail. See your favorite storybook characters and trick-or-treat for candy and toys. Entertain-ment under the tent each evening will include singing, juggling, bat programs, magic and more. $4.00 per person, adults and children.
