CAMP Receives Delaware Community Foundation Grant
CAMP Rehoboth has been awarded a $20,000 capital funding grant from the Delaware Community Foundation (DCF). The funds will be used to assist in constructing the multi-purpose room addition to the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. In awarding the grant, the Delaware Community Foundation recognized the importance of providing meeting room space for the Rehoboth Beach community therefore creating a venue for the free expression of ideas and knowledge. CAMP Rehoboth plans to make the space available to the community for commitment ceremonies, commemorative celebrations, support groups meetings, conferences, receptions and similar events. The room will also offer expanded gallery space for regional art exhibits. More than 900 members of the Rehoboth Beach community donated to the Founders' Circle $1 million capital campaign which made it possible to purchase the property on Baltimore Ave. Phase two of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center construction is scheduled to begin in September 2007. The Delaware Community Foundation is a nonprofit community organization that manages charitable funds for individuals, families, businesses and organizations and distributes the income from the funds as grants to many humanitarian, educational, health and cultural organizations in Delaware. The DCF also works with other nonprofit organizations to assess and meet community needs. Funding for the Capital grants comes from the State of Delaware Fund, which was created in 1989 with a $2 million grant from the State, and other DCF funds. Contributions to unrestricted funds give the Delaware Community Foundation the resources and flexibility to respond to the changing needs of the community. More information about the Delaware Community Foundation is available at www.delcf.org. Always...Patsy Cline presented by Henlopen Theater Project Patsy is based on the true story of Cline's life and her friendship with a devoted fan from Houston, Louise Seger. After a chance meeting in Houston, the two women became fast friends and pen pals. Letters to Louise were signed, "Love Always, Patsy Cline," and those letters were the inspiration for the show. Written by Ted Swindley, the show has down-home country humor, true emotion and, of course, Patsy's unforgettable music. The story is told through the eyes of her friend as Patsy, backed by musicians onstage, sings her way through 27 of her greatest hits. In six short years, Patsy Cline went from an unknown singer to a music legend and years after her death, Cline's music and style continue to enthrall millions of fans, both new and the faithful who grew up with her. Her contribution to the world of music cannot be overstated, and she has influenced many of today's country and pop singers. The show will be traveling to Delaware from Venice Little Theatre (VLT) in Venice Beach, Florida. In 2006, HTP initiated a relationship with VLT. Always...Patsy Cline will be performed at the Cape Henlopen High School Little Theater on Friday and Saturday, August 10th and 11th and at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Monday and Tuesday, August 13th and 14th. Complementing the atmosphere of the show, cabaret table seating will be available at the Convention Center as well as general seating. General seating for all performances is $35.
