LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
LottoEXPLAINING |
by Sondra N. Arkin |
I admit it. I have LottoHEART on the brain. So pay attention to this; I'm only going to explain it in every issue of Letters between now and July 3rd.
On Friday, July 3rd, CAMP Rehoboth will host the LottoHEART Game Show as part of the Whole Lotta Love Weekend (the annual LOVE dance is Saturday night). The lively auction-lottery-show, hosted by Christopher Peterson, will include the art lottery, a live auction, and surprise raffle prizes in addition to open bar, food, and entertainment. This is an exciting and affordable way to add to your collection. Most of the art is valued well above the ticket price. Anyone could walk away with a fantastic bargainwill you? There are four ways to win: 1) just come! (food, drink, fun) 2) join us and bid! (all of the above + live auction) 3) join us and play! (all of the above + art lottery) 4) don't join us (none of the above + still be a winner!) 1) Just come for the fun: a $25 general admission ticket includes open bar, light nibbles, art exhibition, friends galore, and Christopher Peterson cajoling us through the fastest auction you will ever attend. Your general admission ticket gets you in the door, but all you'll go home with is a full belly unless you... 2) Bid in the live auction. Interspersed with the lottery part of the Game Show, we'll be conducting the HEART of the Community auction with art by J. S. Adams, Murray Archibald, Ronald Butt, Rodney Cook, Geri Dibiase, Ward Ellinger, Gary Fisher, Terry Isner, Spencer Kingswell, Lee Wayne Mills, Jeff Moore, Aina Nergaard-Nammack, Jim O'Dell, Brian Petro, Patti Shreeve, Ron Tate, Michael Weinert, and W. Randy Wise. This year we've asked the artists to focus on one of the following words: Balance, Energy, Action, Center, or Hope. Anyone can bid in the live auction, but you need to be lucky to... 3) Score a coveted $100 Art Ticket (includes general admission). With this ticket, you are guaranteed a piece of artand it's likely to be valued at much more. Over 200 artists have joined forces to support CAMP Rehoboth with this exhibition. When you look over the list of participants, here are some of the things you may not notice off the bat: over 15% are represented in museums or major collections; they reside in 10 states as far away as California and Florida; more reside fulltime in Delaware than any other state; and everyone is excited and delighted to be part of this event. The artwork is not signed on the front so you'll have to use your keen art knowledge to identify the maker. How do you get the art you desire? Well, that is a matter of luck. The LottoHEART Game Show draws players at random, and you will select your art in the order you are drawn (no pun intended!) There are surprise raffles and daily doubles as the game progresses, so everyone will be a winner. By June 27th, we'll be launching a web gallery that will allow you to create and print a ranking sheet to keep track of your favorites. How cool is that? Or use the ranking card available at the preview and event to pre-determine the order of your preference, so you'll be able to keep up with the riotous pace. Can't come? Don't fret... 4) You can still be a winner, even if you can not join us to play. The participating artists are doing double-duty to make sure everyone wins. If you can't come on July 3rd or maybe you just don't want to play, ask for a Blind Date Art Ticket. The art comes from the same pool of artists. You may pick up your Blind Date art as early as June 27th from CAMP Rehoboth. It is wrapped and randomyou don't know what you get until you open the package. The Blind Date Art Ticket still includes a July 3rd event pass that you can donate or pass along if you can't attend. A sneak peek preview party honoring the artists will be held at CAMP Rehoboth at 37 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth on Saturday, June 27th from 4-6pm. You can come to the event for as little as $25this gets you in and to bid in the live auction but if you want to play LottoHeart, you'll need to buy a $100 Art Ticket. $100 is not the same as it was last year, believe me, we all know it. But we've put together a terrific value. If you put aside $20 for the next five weeks to support this project, we promise you'll be a winner. Take a Chance on Love. Art Tickets go on sale June 1st and are limited in supply. Reserve your $100 Art Ticket today by calling CAMP Rehoboth at 302-227-5620. In some levels of Love Sponsorship, Art Tickets are included. |
