We’ve been asking the “RU?” question since Memorial Day Weekend, and on Sat, June 19th, over 100 members of the Summer CAMP (some are not) Beach House Challenge, said “yes, we are” by attending the Kickoff T-dance at the Community Center.
The Kickoff was a chance to meet house members from the competing houses and to learn more about CAMP and what we have to offer. For many, it was their first visit to the Community Center so it was also an opportunity to tour the facility and meet the staff and several members of the Board, also in attendance.
A highlight of the event was “CAMP Counselor,” Josh Levie (60 Baltimore Ave) addressing the group. Josh, who helped coordinate the event, spoke passionately about what Rehoboth has meant to him over the years and why others should get involved in this effort to build a mutual relationship with CAMP. His words resonated with all present and we offer him our sincere thanks.
House members signed up for Summer CAMP Volunteer events, including a “Community Volunteer Day” where members will work with Habitat for Humanity on Sat, July 17th. Other events include two Condom Stuffing parties and working the Love Tent on Poodle Beach, promoting LOVE 4 All.
DJ Bradley Schurman of DC provided music, while Hobo’s restaurant of Baltimore Avenue offered tasty fare and gift certificates. Special thanks to both.
The Challenge itself pits participating houses against one another to see who can raise the most “points,” through July 31. The winning house will be awarded the cover shot of the August 13th issue of Letters. See page 102 for complete details and current standings.
