Dec. 11 - Including an Oprah Book Club Winner!
Just in time for holiday gifts—or a gift for yourself!—there will be a five-author book signing event on Saturday, Dec. 11, 3-5 p.m. at Proud Bookstore on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth
Rehoboth’s own LGBT independent bookstore will welcome, for the first time, writers Renee Bess, Lisa Gitlin, and Sheri Reynolds, along with encore appearances by Stefani Deoul and Fay Jacobs.
Best-selling author Reynolds, whose latest book is The Sweet In-Between (“...a heartstring-plucker that’s explicit, tender, sad and hopeful…” Publisher’s Weekly) also authored the Oprah Book Club selection The Rapture of Caanan, which went on to be a New York Times Best Seller. The Sweet-In-Between is the story of an embattled teenage girl growing up in a Virginia tidewater town. Kendra “Kenny” Lugo has it tough: her mother is dead, her father is in jail, and she is what others might call gender-confused. It’s an amazing story.
Gitlin has just published her first novel, I Came Out for This? with Bywater Books and is receiving raves for her comic coming out tale. It’s written as a journal in a hilarious take-no-prisoners style and will have readers howling—and remembering their journey, too.
Bess is a Philadelphia writer whose latest book is The Butterfly Moments from Regal Crest publishers. Renée is dedicated to the act of writing about African-American lesbians and her new book is getting raves as well.
Joining this celebrated trio will be Rehoboth’s own Stefani Deoul and Fay Jacobs. Jacobs will be reading from her recently released book For Frying Out Loud and Deoul will read from The Carousel (“The prose is that good and the characters will sweep you up in their enthusiasm until you find yourself cheering them on”—Out in Print).
