Women’s FEST Will Be Largest Ever
CAMP Rehoboth’s Women’s FEST is heading for a sell-out as Col. Cammermeyer, Suzanne, Poppy and Tret hit town!
Between CAMP Rehoboth’s new online reservations system, and non-stop phone calls, it’s clear that the April 12-15 Women’s FEST will be the biggest ever. In fact, by the time you read this, the FEST Passes are sold out (at over a hundred more than last year!) But don’t worry, tickets for the premier events at the Rehoboth Convention Center and CAMP Rehoboth Community Center are still available, and there will be a ton of things to do around town the entire weekend.
CAMP Rehoboth thanks Olivia Travel, the presenting sponsor of the FEST, and the many other generous sponsors, presenters, and volunteers. Special thanks to Olivia for also donating a cruise to be auctioned Friday at the Suzanne Westenhoefer performance.
We are thrilled about the Suzanne Westenhoefer Concert on Friday night, April 13, (sponsored by Jenn Harpel of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney), with close to 500 seats already sold, but it’s a big room, so call 302-227-5620 or go online to camprehoboth.com to get yours! Men and women alike will be rolling in the aisles and gasping for breath from her routine…this woman is funny! That Convention Center will rock!
And, to celebrate the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, on Saturday afternoon we have special guest Col. Grethe Cammermeyer with us. We will be showing the film Serving in Silence, starring Glenn Close, based on Grethe’s book of the same name, on Saturday, April 14 at 1:30 at the Rehoboth Convention Center. Sponsored by Karen Gustafson and Move2Rehoboth.com, the movie will be followed by a Q&A with Grethe and other retired military personnel, talking about their experiences under the military ban for gay people. By the way, veterans get into the movie and Q&A free as our thanks to them for their service. Tickets, $10, are available.
That night enjoy comic/actress/stand-up instructor Poppy Champlin at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. The Women’s FEST Committee scouted Poppy doing a gig at Blue Moon, so it’s clear she appeals to gays of both genders…and this woman is a stitch. In the intimate setting at CAMP, her show, just like at the Post Office in P-Town, will be a scream. Poppy will also teach a stand-up class as part of the FEST Pass classes that morning. Poppy’s early show is a sell-out already, but we have added a later show, so call today for tix!
As for music, the legendary Tret Fure will be doing two shows only at CAMP Rehoboth on Saturday evening April 14. Tret is the real thing: a star from the beginning of the lesbian music scene, still singing and strumming, still relevant and very, very talented. We are so delighted we can host her in the intimate setting of the CAMP Community Center. One of Tret’s shows is already sold out, but the second show still has some tickets available.
And for you tea dancers, this FEST will not disappoint. From 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, the Convention Center will be hot! Ladies 2000 will host their awesome tea dance with their incredible DJ, flowing beverages, and camaraderie. Come on guys, join the fun with the girls. This is a dance party that will knock your socks off!
Are you a golfer? There are still spots available for the Friday Random Draw Golf Outing. Are you a poker player? Please join us for the Poker for Fun Tournament on Sunday, April 15 at CAMP. It’s free to enter, but you should make a reservation (302-227-5620) so we know how many tables we need!
And calling everyone, again, boys and girls together, to join the Sunday morning Broadwalk on the Boardwalk to fight breast cancer. Wear pink (or not!), dress up (or not!), bring your dogs (or not!) but show up in the CAMP courtyard at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning April 15 to raise money to fight this insidious disease and show solidarity with the cause in Rehoboth. Let’s make this walk historic in numbers, diversity, and fun! And thanks to Karen Gustafson, again, with Move2rehoboth.com for sponsorship.
And don’t forget the Annual Women's FEST Brunch at Frogg Pond (call 227-2234)—always a sell-out, and the Brunch after the Broadwalk at the Rehoboth Ale House.
Tickets for all the Women’s FEST events, are available online or by calling 302-227-5620. Get them before we sell out. And see you there!
Special Thursday night reception for Col. Cammermeyer still has a few tickets left!
Be on hand to welcome Col. Grethe Cammermeyer and her partner Diane in person at a small benefit reception at a private home in the RB Country Club on Thursday, April 12, 5-7 pm. With food and beverage provided by Kathy Davison and Comcast Spotlight, this intimate meet ‘n greet will help introduce Grethe to Rehoboth and Rehoboth to Grethe. Join us for great conversation, photo ops, and more. Be among the select few to enjoy this unique evening with our special Women’s FEST guest. Tickets are $50 per person and available by calling 302-227-5620.
