Two Dances, Two Chances
Women’s FEST is coming! Women’s FEST is coming! This is going to be the biggest and best CAMP Rehoboth Women’s FEST ever, so make plans now to be at the beach, April 11-14. This year there are two dances—that’s two chances to join hundreds of women on the dance floor. Featuring more than ever before, this four day party includes countless activities, fabulous workshops, and dinner and drink discounts all around town. Don’t miss this!
The weekend of March 16-17 features the Merchants’ Attic and Public Garage Sale at the RB Convention Center; beginning March 29, Clear Space Theater Company presents Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music which runs through April 14. On March 29-30, The Delaware Music Festival hits Dewey Beach and it’s free! April 5 is the annual Get Down in Town, where you can sample restaurant fare while you shop at over 60 retail stores; April 6 is the 16th Annual Delaware Resorts Home Expo at the RB Convention Center.
Two of the semi-finalists in this year’s national James Beard Foundation Awards are Hari Cameron, nominated for Rising Star Chef of the Year for his restaurant, a(MUSE), and Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, nominated for Outstanding Wine, Spirits or Beer Professional. Very exciting! The Delaware Culinary Trail is Delaware Tourism’s latest venture promoting iconic eateries throughout the state, including Big Fish Grill, Nage, The Cultured Pearl and Striper Bites Bistro. To “complete” the trail, you must dine at five restaurants in each of Delaware’s three counties. Winners will be awarded a cookbook featuring secret recipes from each of the 24 locations. Another popular program, Local on the Menu, has a new discount card which can be printed for free from their website. The card gets you a free dessert at the Brick Hotel Tavern, a free nosh at Hobos, and other goodies.
Early bird tickets have sold out for the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, June 21-23. This year’s lineup features Tom Petty, Ellie Goulding, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many others.
The Rehoboth Foodie reports that you can now make reservations for several local restaurants online at OpenTable.com, including Eden, Cabo, Saketumi, and Blue Moon. And trust me, this summer is going to be busier than ever if February is any indication. I’m already seeing 40 minute waits on Saturdays at several hot spots.
Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Carvel Ice Cream are coming to Dewey Beach and will be in the former Dewey Bull location. Annie’s Banannies has closed, and Corner Grille will expand into the new space. Other sinfully delicious news includes Dorman’s Donuts in Peddlers Village, where they offer hand dipped donuts that are cooked when you order them. One of the specialties is the salted caramel donut which is dipped in caramel then topped with pretzel pieces. I believe my hips just got a little bigger thinking about it!
There’s a sign up for the Jerusalem International Grocery in the shopping center near the Lewes WaWa. Not sure when they’ll open. Café Azafran in Lewes is now serving a full breakfast including omelets and waffles every day; the Rehoboth location is just Saturday and Sunday. Just to the right of Hobos will be a new Italian deli starring the adorable Lou and Frankie Bascio formerly with Touch of Italy.
Several stores are papered up in downtown ReHo getting ready for new tenants, but I have yet to figure out what’s going into the former Insight Gallery (near Dunkin Donuts) or the former Head Mechanics. I heard that Nathan’s will now be a sunglass store. Designer Consigner (across from Lily Thai on First Street) will open later this month, and that my friends, is the latest buzz.
