Photographer Barbara Proud, creator of the First Comes Love Project will be at CAMP Rehoboth on October 18, 3-5 p.m. with her book First Comes Love: Portraits of Enduring LGBTQ Relationships.
CAMP AIDS Walk Team Raises $8K
The CAMP Rehoboth AIDS Walk Team joined hundreds of folks on September 27, both in Rehoboth and in Wilmington, to raise funds for Delaware AIDS organizations all over the state. The CAMP Rehoboth team raised $8,000 for AIDS Walk 2014.
Appo High School GSEA Sends Thanks
CAMP Rehoboth recently produced a banner for the Appo Gay Straight Everyone Alliance at Appo High School in Middletown. This photo came with their beautiful thank-you note.
Letters Cover on the Auction Block
Rick and Annette Stellhorn of Accent On Travel were the high bidders on the Letters from CAMP Rehoboth cover in the 2013 Sundance Live Auction. They are joined here by Carolyn Watson and Ginny Stominski of Carolyn Watson Photography. Along with creative director Murray Archibald, Ginny and Carolyn donated their time and talents to create the fun cover on this issue of Letters. Watch for the 2014 Sundance cover sometime next season.
Straight Eights Car Show Fan Favorite
On Saturday, September 20, the Straight Eights Lambda Car Club returned to Rehoboth Beach for its annual Beach Ball Car Show, held on the beach block of Baltimore Avenue. This year, in a new twist, the public was invited to vote for their favorite car. The winner was this gorgeous 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe owned by Gary Bacon. Congratulations to Gary and to all the participants in the 2014 show.
From Maine to Istanbul, Letters From CAMP Rehoboth is On the Road Again!
Letters from CAMP Rehoboth loves to travel! In recent weeks it joined Michael Brown, Pippin, Gary Mosher, Don Baum, Ski Rowland and Charlie in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Hali Confer and Des Jones deployed with it to Australia. Tom Rose and Tom Sechowicz carried it all the way to Istanbul. Closer to home, Sandy McDevitt and Dorsey Johnson, and Jim Slusher and Thom Morris relaxed with Letters in P’town.
Celebrating More Gay Weddings!
Based on the number of wedding photos Letters from CAMP Rehoboth receives this time of year, autumn seems to be a favorite time to tie the knot. Shown here, beginning at top left: Becky Creager and Susann Nahrwold. Mario Font and Jason Damaso were married at Hobo’s on Baltimore Avenue. Brenda Wright and Nancy Kinzinger. Kay Strosnider and Jane Lamont were married at their home in Pennsylvania. Lindy Kosydar and Lori McCracken were married in Ocean City, Maryland, and Betsy Cohen and Michele Short were married in Belcamp, Maryland. Henry Weeks and Wayne Ritchie were married at the Rehoboth home of Tom Balling and Rex Varner.
Last but not least, Letters from CAMP Rehoboth columnist Bill Sievert and his longtime partner John Theis returned from their now home state of Florida in September to marry in Delaware.
