Dear Letters’ Readers,
Religious freedom is not the freedom to harm or discriminate! Urge John Carney, our U.S. Representative, to cosponsor The Do No Harm Act, introduced in the House by Congressmen Bobby Scott (VA-3) and Joe Kennedy (MA-4). This bill would ensure that the freedom of religion continues to be celebrated but does not allow harm or discrimination against anyone, including LGBTQ people and their families.
Email Rep. Carney and consider using this suggested PFLAG message:
Dear Representative Carney,
As your constituent and as a supporter of PFLAG, I urge you to cosponsor the Do No Harm Act, introduced in the House by Congressmen Bobby Scott (VA-3) and Joe Kennedy (MA-4). This bill would ensure that the freedom of religion continues to be celebrated but does not allow harm or discrimination of anyone, including LGBTQ people and their families. PFLAG’s values are America’s values and that includes ensuring that families with LGBTQ people experience the same protections against discrimination as everyone else. If you already cosponsor this bill, thank you. If you do not, I urge you to consider doing so for the sake of families like mine.
Note: Please remember to specify your name, full address, and zip code. This allows your legislator to record your communication, and to respond to you in your important capacity as a constituent.
